If you owned that sponsor, and paid out your sponsorship dollars, to provide free live streamed coverage for fans over the Internet, how would you feel about NHRA allowing someone else to post videos for the cost of press credentials?

I don't have anything at all against Rob. However, I do understand where both NHRA and the sponsor of the live Internet video feed could have a problem with what he wanted to do, from a business view point.

As a solution, maybe Rob should talk to that sponsor about using what he does to enhance their coverage.

True but I'll bet Rob would have shown the later rounds and also the "sportsman" finals. Good luck Rob and thanks for all you try to do.

The race was live streamed all the way through every final round race, and it was an all sportsman show.

No sir! Whatever laws (Federal & state) that are in place in the state you are in is what you and NHRA must adhere to. NHRA can not supersede state and Federal law. Your rights do vary depending on the state. NHRA would like to have you think that they are the law makers but they are just hoping you won't call them on it! Jim

I am reading this after a busy day of doing something other than racing with NHRA. It seems to me, you are a great media representative. NHRA gets an unpaid genius working for free, and then ban him! >W-T-F<

Rob, If they really want to help themselves, and the racers, they would give you an air conditioned suite, and full fiber optic internet. You are as good as they get.

I filmed some classic racing in the old days, and can tell everyone, that a camcorder isn't the best way to watch racing. Your sacrifice is most appreciated, I can't believe you do it for free!

NHRA doesn't have many paid workers humping it harder than you do.
Your quality is outstanding, and they should be kissing your butt, and comp-ing you like a new soda CFO king pin.

In today's new media age, everyone is a reporter, but most average Joe's are lousy at that.
With video, it only matters if you got the shot.
NHRA has a great product in the class cars, but they don't market it.
Oh and shame on anyone promoting it.
It looks like another year of stupid from the new Glendora, same as the old Glendora!

ex NHRA member

Couldn't agree with you more Don! Rob is the best of the best and NHRA is missing the boat (as usual) on this one. Butch's stills are also superb and promote our great sport in an excellent way. Alan's idea (post above) is a winner also. If NHRA would just enlist some of these great talents and ideas it would be a win-win situation for all involved! Jim

After watching D3TV .... which I like ...Robs video coverage is still fare superior . To be fair I have not see any of the all access footage ( I would like to check it out , but I don't now anyone who paid for it ! ) I will not pay for a product , like all access that maybe inferior to what Rob has and then be disappointed for $99 on top of membership fees. In my opinion , I suspect the sponsor of all access maybe paying for a product that is inferior ...They should pay Rob for his work and include it in there coverage and then maybe I and others would by more willing pony up the money for all access ....If they can't see the value in Robs work they must be blind ...They ( the nhra and the sponsor ) really need to reconsider this matter ....and amend there contract ...

Someone else paid for you to watch D3TV. The sponsor(s) gave it to you, they paid for it. Maybe if he wants to offer video, when someone else has paid for the rights to do so, he can work something out where he adds his to theirs, for the rights to shoot and post his.

The All access is well worth the money in my opinion. Probably the best thing NHRA has done in a long time, lots of different camera angles. I was hesitant at first to purchase but I piss away lots of Bens on stuff not near as good as this.
I enjoy Robs videos too but as Alan said in a world where someone is paying sponsorship money for something NHRA really has no choice on something like that. That sponsor paid for those rights.

Don't know that, as I was busy all day and went on You Tube d3tv to watch the finals and it did not show any thing after like 10.48 hrs of the show ?? Maybe no full replay. Still that way now!

I am in the process of uploading an HD copy of the entire live stream. We had internet challenges that reduced the quality and had a lot of buffering. It should be completed by the end of the evening. On race day, we do live stream every run of qualifying and eliminations, so viewers did get that coverage through the end in real time.
As an aside, I like Rob's videos as well, and relayed that to him when I met him in Bowling Green. We are not trying to do the same thing - mine is a full broadcast, his is more specific highlight-oriented action. It's good to like them both!
