Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
I think there will be accurate information next week. I have been told I am the only one in the nation who objected to the new format. I think very few people knew or realized in the lower SS classes the difference between stick and auto were that much. Same in GT stick and auto. I really don't think NHRA intended on lowering indexes of 80 out of a little less than the 800 SS folks. Especially by that much. However, by what NHRA put in print, that is exactly what they did. There is plenty of time for clarification between now and Feb when the races start. The 80 is the approximate number of new cars or old cars with new motors. The 800 is about the number of cars in SS who earned at least 10 points or more. Nitro has more that that as National Opens are in his number as are folks in more than one class, like me. I think Nitro's numbers are closer to 1000. It's about 10% total. In GT it's less than 5% (new/new) to the total; about 20, probably less, to about 350 total GT cars.

Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
Hey Jeff I am not sure if we got lucky or not .. the SS/CA + SS/DA moved to the FSS classes with the same index - just the sticks in SS/C + SS/D get a .05 softer index and will join the party with automatics.
I have heard the single car class eliminator will be split as well - along with the 100 lb auto weight break. I saw it on the internet so it must be true - LMFAO See you soon Ron |
Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
Heck Jeff, you can still run over a second under, right? What's the problem? Just hook the other two barrels back up. LOL

Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
Ron, SS/B, C and D had the same Index for stick and auto. So no advantage either way there. The difference comes in the 'slower' classes. .15 in I-IA, .20 in J, .25 in K.
Same with GT, the farther down you go, the more disparity. .10 in A, .15 in E, .25 in I and J. |
Re: NHRA Releases New Class Indexes
Ed, my second under left with the 10 hp somebody got me at Indy, and the .25 hit. I won class in Indy (over an old car) by 3 hun with all nine barrels open, nitrous hooked up, nitro rag in the pan, and 5 lb over min. I think I will go find my Super Bee so all I have to do is cry, complain, and type and get more competitive. Allows more time for beer drinking. Course I have already enrolled in the Larry Hill School of Horsepower Reductions. I want to be like Larry. Working on getting your competitors hit, while working on getting your personal ride reduced even more. I like that.
