I know that its not suppose to be taken into account but I wander if the NHRA is keeping track of those individuals who run way under index at open events where horsepower can't be added and then "randomly" select those individuals for tear down at divisional or national events?

I would own any record that my outdated car would set, but I can't run fast enough to set any records.

Heads up racing for class I just love it. In fact I would rather run for class than eat and I am always hungry.

The worst part of not being the lead dog is the view never ever changes.

Ink is the reason some early '70s cars fly, read not enough ink; and too much ink is why some early '70s cars won't fly.

Jesse the Factory Shoot Out Cars are great and put on a good show, but should not be exempt from the AHFS rules.

Jim: Chuck who? LOL Rod I think if the air is that good at Atco in the spring as it was this year 10:70's may be good for an H car but I don't think it will get it done for a G.

Barry- I don't know about a 10.7 H car. My best correction was at Indy and was 10.88. It would have to be minus 1000' for us to run in the 70's. Gary- I'm with you on setting records and going thru teardown. Should be on the dyno in a few days to see if it makes more steam.

Barry: (lol), the same Chuck Beach that went 10.79 at Maple Grove in 2008 (I think). The car was at at least 75# heavy for G. Not on Kill, No lite oil, and engine wasn't cooled. And,... I think, ...no, I know ... it's faster now. Come down south - mine shaft conditions, slight tail wind, tuned up, lite oil, cooled.....10.60's....maybe!? ....could happen. JB

Glenn, damn you, you have all the inside info! I know the weight of Chuck's car at that race, I know the tune up, I know it ran 10.79, but I didn't know he'd taken a plug wire off!?

Where it is not the same, I would still do it all over again. When Dad and I BOTH set the records and tore down at Joliet, people thought we were absolutely insane for doing it. Given that same opportunity, Id do it again in a heartbeat.

We had more people come up and offer help, to chase parts, and bring food. Some were friends and racers, others were just there to watch the divisional race and had no clue what was happening. It was thought that it was an area to fix broken race cars.

Travis Miller would probably remember, but I seem to recall about 15 cars going through teardown that day. I believe everyone did pass too.
