Please accept my condolences to you and your Family, Tony. Although I never met your Dad, it was impossible not to know what a great champion he was and always will be. Rest in Peace, Delmer.

Sorry to hear about Delmer passing. He and I fought it out in 1986 down to the last race at Pomona for the World Championship in 1986. We were sitting on the guardrail together as being part of the pre race ceremony while Don Garlits was speaking on stage. Delmer said to me, "that is one guy I would like to meet someday". When Garlits was done speaking and came off the stage, I yelled over to him and said "Don, come over here, there is someone I would like you to meet". Don came over in case he might know who I was (he didn't know me from Adam) and I introduced him to Delmer and Garlits shook Delmers hand. Delmer had such a big smile on his face and said he wasn't ever going to wash that hand again.

Thought I would share that story with you as your racing family out here really enjoyed Delmer. God Speed.

So sorry for your loss. I met Delmer a couple of years ago at Topeka. He came over to chat with me about Dan Larson, and the car I had recently purchased from him (Delmer's '85 Z28 Camaro). Great man! Great story's!

oh no say it's not so.div4 lost another key racer.Tony and Miss Joan i am so Sorry for your Loss. i allways enjoyed talking to Delmer.i can still see him riding on the golf kart with his favorite Dog.God Speed Delmer. he was a TRUE Friend to me.may he join Tim Scott Terry and Paul in that Big drag strip in the sky!!
