Re: Radial Tire question...
[QUOTE=1320racer;385604]and your olds ran what 60 foot/ET 17 years ago?
Probably about 1.5-1.6's. I was running 11.30-40's @ 115 MPH at the time. I didn't know you were a fan. I could send you an autographed photo if you like. |
Re: Radial Tire question...
I'm not impressed! I was running those times in the mid 90's at over 4000 lbs., with a Q-Jet and driving my car to and from the track every weekend!:p
Meanwhile, I only offer advice and reply about what I KNOW and I KNOW radial slicks, get over it! |
Re: Radial Tire question...
I am not really sure what the arguing is about in this thread, but we race two Olds 442 Stockers and have been running radials for awhile now. They are worth about .07-.08 on our cars.No way a tenth.
We have tried them all at one time or another also.Right now,Hoosier really has their ***** together.I made four runs over the weekend, and 3 of 4 were the same 60 ft right to the thousandth.I was only running 1.531,which is a little slower than I would like, but I ran the car for the first time at 4,080 pounds.Over two tons of fun. |
Re: Radial Tire question...
And I was just getting ready to ask you for your address so I could send you my "hero card"....

I've back-to-backed M/T's 30" radial vs 28" bias, and the radial was still notably quicker even in the 1/8th mile, despite the taller tire. |
Re: Radial Tire question...
Michael, you've seen my cars and know they work. No, not running out of RPM.
My statements are in fact true and accurate. Heavy big block cars will not see anywhere near a tenth swapping from bias to radial slicks. BTW, Chad Harris nor Bob Tatum picked up a tenth either with their heavy big block cars and both were considerably lighter than my car. |
Re: Radial Tire question...
Watch out for the wicked radial wobal. Switched over from the bias for class a couple years ago and almost had to get a new seat cover. Anti-roll bar in the offseason and no more problem. From what i undersand some cars get it and some don't care.
