Re: My 67 Shelby updates

There is nothing in the rule book about the master cutoff off switch being able to be activate both in and out of the car.

There are many scenarios of what could happen in a crash. Suppose I hit the wall with the rear of the car and the push pull rod gets bent? Suppose I sustain damage to the rear and the switch can not be reach. I think the likely hood of my leg getting over the large side bolster of my racing seat is highly unlikely. I guess my leg could snap and get twisted in a server crash, but with a crash like that I would most likely not survive anyway.

I feel its makes my car safer. I don't have to reach for the ignition if a get in trouble, just a quick pull of the handle and all power is off. Its also great if there is a throttle issue or you just need to shut the engine off quickly. For me, its my panic switch.

I Don't think there is any problem with the drivers compartment master Cut-off operation. In fact, I've had that very thing in all of my home built race cars since 1995, almost 20 years now. The main reason was SAFETY, and the ability for me to shut down all electrical components prior to track personal getting to my car which could be 15 seconds or more. That's a lot of extra gas spraying around and wires burning possibly. I also learned how nice this component was when I got all belted in the car and had forgot to turn the Cut-off switch on! LOL I have a sweet Idea for the RACEtoration Corvette here on CR builds. I feel that all racing should not only allow this, but strongly suggest that all racers update to this simple and cheap safety upgrade. NASCAR has had driver master cut-off for years.

Ken, nothing worse than being belted in and no one to turn the switch back on(that you had every intention to turn it on before entering the race car but forgot), I'm building the same in my car. thanks p.s. patent pending Ken?

Latest update for the Shelby was a much need paint job. I could not decide what color to go with, so I went with Wimbledon White with a modified version of the Super Snake stripes that come on a one off 67 427 Shelby. Check out some more photos at the link below. The body and paint was done by Eric Bardekoff. Many of you on the east coast know Eric and his Dad Jeff. Eric is the owner of EB Custom Works, and I can tell you his work is amazing.

Check out his website and the other builds he is working on. Eric is also a sponsor of Class Racer.

Looks great Ken, love the stock type paint scheme. Whats the story on the gold 67 Fairlane, is it also a race car?
