That's one of the main reasons I went to Comp. Pump it, weigh it, fuel check and your done. No horsepower factors, 32 car qualified field with no break out. First man to the finish line wins. Real simple.

The biggest problem is that there are very few people left in tech that even know what to look for in a stocker. Chuck is right about being torn down in d3 if you go 1.20 under. In our division we still have Travis but he is one of one left in NHRA.

One of two, but I don't think Wesley is travelling to races any more.

I'm half way there. I weigh, fuel check. Then they pump me (total of 30 minutes start to finish) then check wheel base, and overhang. And we are done.

The overhang brings up a funny time about 10 years ago at a points race. I was at the scale when a very fast 68 camaro came by. The tech man was harping on something on someones car that had no effect what so ever on performance or classification etc. I pointed out that since when does a stocker 68 camaro with a 27-28" front tire, sitting very low, have the front of both the front and rear fenders trimmed allot, and a new beed rolled into it, then there was such a gap at the rear of the tires it looked weird? The tech man said that is not happening. The funny part is I was looking over his shoulder at the car and he did not turn around to look...LOL...I did not point out the car to him, just making a statement. I thought that was a funny. Those racers were very sharp and had fooled the tech people for years....I did not say anything to anyone.....Have you seen how they measure overhang? Talk about no where near accurate.

I believe it was last year a 4th gen F body SS/IA formerly ownned by a Div 1 or 2 racer (won't name names) being raced by a used racing equipment dealer from around here pulled into the staging lanes. Wesley looked at it, measured it, told them to fix it. Rear end was too far forward. LOL Depends on the tech guys, what they can get away with.

Confusion Eliminator simple? It would be if all of the tech inspectors knew the rules. one inspector wants that another inspector wants this. I know of a Div 6 car owner that spent a lot of money reconfiguring his roll cage as he was warned that he would not be allowed to race again with it the way it was. He made the changes and was then told that it was not necessary by a different inspector.

All of us running SS with non-hood scoop cars are masochists.
