For the record I absolutely hate my full face helmet, thinking about going back to an open face helmet.

Personal "confinement" anxieties !.... NO WAY could I function with a full face helmet. Too hot, too tight, no visibility, obstructs clear breathing, and further inhibits hearing.
Just can't do it.
I am a very poor racer, mostly BECAUSE I get disoriented with the damn helmet on !

SA2005 open, I've tried wearing a full face too, can't wear my glasses without them steaming up.:rolleyes:

I've never said that Jim, because I know it's unrealistic to think that. However, there are many things that are not mandated on cars like mine, and thus if I don't need to have it, I won't. I sure love how a former fwd'er who now has joined the ranks of the faster half of the class thinks I should have the same safety equipment that the faster cars have, just because you have to have them...if the rules don't mandate it, then I'm not spending my money on it, that simple.

You know I've seen a lot of things that have enhanced the capabilities of faster class cars being allowed on them (that weren't in decades past), while little to nothing has been done to benefit the slower rollers (and fwd stockers), so enjoy your faster car, Jim. I race what I can afford, plus when I do win with this car, it'll have more meaning to it given only two racers have made either the stock national or divisional winners circle (speaking NHRA only since I don't know if Mike Beard or any other fwd racer has done this in the IHRA). I'll take the road less traveled thank you very much!!!

No Bob we don't, however I've yet to run against a 9sec stocker anyway. Every car I've had to line up next to (so far) has been a 10 sec. or slower roller. Besides, if their cars safety equipment matches their performance (they shouldn't be on the track if it doesn't), then they should stay in their own lane, as I have been in mine...no harm, no foul.

Hey Jim,see if you can find Gary a hat like this for the 2012 season.It would be appropriate for that rocket car he drives in his own lane.

Hmmm,
Slow bracket cars don't even need a helmet, That must cause sleepless nights for you uber safety guys.
I should have had that as a option on the poll. Helmet? I don't need no stinkin helmet.

It really wouldn't be a bad idea to wear a helmet if you are ever driving on I-90 in the Chicago area.
