Now I have more motivation to build a stocker knowing I have a couple of places to run it other than divisional events.:)

Am I correct in assuming that these combo meets are "all run" events as long as the drivers runs under their index ?

They are all run. You can even run over your index, you're just not likely to win because you can't dial over your index. Oh by the way we do have heads up runs at both Bowling Green and Ohio Valley. Working scales at both places.

Mike Taylor 3601

I was at the combo race at BG last night and was told by the man in the tower who was organizing the combo tech cards that the only IHRA cars that can run there are those with similar NHRA classes.

So that rules out Pure Stock, Crate Motor, and Stock GT cars. Bummer..:(

Well, I guess since that's a 3-4 hour road trip for me. No love lost there if IHRA cars, other than "traditional" stockers are allowed.

With my luck, by the time I get my car ready, the S/SS combo meets will be dying out. That's been my luck with hobbies, by the time I'm ready to play, the playgrounds are closing up. I do have regrets since trying to get back into racing, wish we hadn't quit 20 years ago. Life takes different turns for all of us.

If I had my car ready, it'd be coming to the meets, running under the index or not. Until a car gets sorted out, EVERY pass is a practice pass. Besides everyone loves a first round gimmee, don't they?

I can relate to what you are saying !
The T-Bird in my avatar was bought in 1999 with the intention of running it in Stock .
For years I worked on that car making it NHRA legal, but eventually put a big block in it.
Now, in order for me to run the combo races at Beech Bend I'll have to put a turbo 4 cylinder in it to make it NHRA legal.
Oh well.........back to the drawing board :(

Alan, there must have been some confusion on Clay's part because we have had crate motor cars run in the past. Something that changed was that if you had a car that fit in a NHRA class you have to run that index and horsepower rating. I will send Clay an e-mail and see if they are still allowing IHRA cars like crate motors or SS/ Pa and let you know.

I appreciate that Greg !

He did seem confused when I asked about Pure Stock, Crate, and GT cars.

I really hope they allow those three classes because I would love to race a combo race there. :)
