Re: Don Fezell #2 9.514 145.53 WOW
Stock Eliminator is far from the only class with big differences in mph between cars. Every racer knows the risk of being on track and if you don't feel safe then improve your own situation.
Ed, you say you don't feel comfortable out there, but your car has no bar or harness? If it was such a big deal, then why not put that in there and feel safe? I've raced plenty of S/SS combo races and have had to run SS/AH cars and modified cars running well over 150. I'm sure you have as well so why complain about a car going 140? There is no rule that says you can't add a roll bar or cage, proper harness, firesuit, fire gloves, full-face helmet, HANS, etc. I'm not making a joke either. Until you've exhausted all the options, don't complain about safety. Yes, it can get expensive to have said equipment, but you are the one on track and if you don't feel safe then it's money well spent. Evan |
Re: Don Fezell #2 9.514 145.53 WOW
When I had my Z/S at 80.00 mph I ran against alot faster cars like every Sunday at Cecil. Some back then ran 130.00 + . Come on ED it will be "OK".

So either the car is terribly inefficient or he's got the throttle stop set for AHFS avoidance. |
Re: Don Fezell #2 9.514 145.53 WOW
I woud think the 145 mph would figure around a 9.30. The dragster I used to drive would run around 9.20`s at 145,and the Mustang has the supercharger giving it the bigger speeds.

Re: Don Fezell #2 9.514 145.53 WOW
Imagine a Mustang hitting a great Big Impala Estate Wagon at over 140mph the Mustang would be history and the Impala would be ready for second round with just a little bit of duck tape. I love fast cars but I enjoy the slower class even more. The Mustangs and Challengers are just catching up and passing all the Camaros and Firebirds with LT1 And LS1 motored cars that have been dominating the class in the past. Remember this is Stock Eliminator where men are men and aren't afraid of something new, it's just going to make you work harder. Look at Al Corda, Woodro Josey, these guy's aren't afraid to change brand, type or technologies, Billy Nee's can make most tuna can competitive. Bring on the new Camaro v6 and v8 now I'm really looking forward to the future. I wouldn't want to see the Mustang leave for Super Stock, we need the new blood. Just my opinion and I know what people say about opinion. Claude Ruel

I think in the next year or so that some new combos in the new cars will start to dominate the middle classes.I think that you will see the older cars fade slowly away.In the long run it might be what actually saves S/SS for the future. |

AA car can though.I've been concerned about that since day one. When I bracket raced in the dark ages I ran street elim. then pro et.Back then Pro ET was 11.00 to 11.99 not the bull$**** they run today. And no electronics then. That was fun.Today racing has degenerated into a cut throat high dollar pi$$ing contest.I do it only because of the friendship and acquaintenses I've made in the last 11 years. Mark my above sentence about the state of racing now says it all. |
