Let the record show that Wade is the first person in history to suggest that I don't spend *enough* time on the internet! ;)

Michael, I'm sorry if I exposed the real truth about you. LOL

Marc, Your reasons to compete in the big show reflect my own for the most part. Speaking for myself, I can only compete with those folks in a bracket format. They have to much experience in the fast part of racing for me! I like to do the "Nationals" side of racing because I am a fan also. And most of the time the nicest equitment in drag racing is on site. The other thing is, that I would like to win the Wally/Ironman (which I have not). That would put me about as close to all my drag racing heroes as I could want.

I want to say that I feel bad for the folks that know how to go fast. They have spent a large part of their life and have sacrificed lots of time, and lots of money. But to win the big Wally/Ironman, they must bracket race with a very slight chance of a heads-up advantage for themselves. Real drag racing has no bracket racing component! (my opinion). Bracket racing is the only way I can race against the real drag racers !

I do because they give me a place to race other than brackets.

Which tracks and where? Location could be a factor.

Don't assume. I know a bunch of doorslammer kooks (including me) who'd pack up a motorhome and party like a metal band at an event with a couple hundred class cars running. I wouldn't have to put up with the jacklegs that have to stand up everytime they light a motor and I could engage in intellengent conversations with other classic car fans.

Wade why no heads up in your combo idea. I love the combos but I think we need to keep the heads up as part of the racing. Odds are I get my arse kicked in any heads up match up but that is what Class racing is all about.

Who would they get to police it? Weight, fuel check, engine inspections IF someone is protested......most small tracks dont even have a set of scales, the fuel check equipment costs a couple of thousand, tear downs????? LOL. Yeah right.

Novassdude, The EX-TECH MAN is correct, it cost more money. But I am in favor of the heads-up thing, and theres no reason that we can't have that type of racing as well. We must understand that the purse will not be as good, because of the cost of retaining quailified teck folks to police the rules for heads-up events.

It looks like NHRA has a new program for racers. "NHRA Unleashed" is a program with a "Pinks all out" taste to it. Check out my other thread.
