Re: Future MPR Race Cars and stuff. Pics
Now what would be the advantage of that rear end? I'd think you want the opposite, make it look like an 8 3/4 for the purists but use a 9" third member.

Re: Future MPR Race Cars and stuff. Pics
Well I think you are asking 2 different types of question, I could misunderstand.
The advantage between an 8 3/4 and a Dana60 (well M60 or S60 in this case) Well weight is the big one, not much but Ill take anything I can, and spend it elsewhere on the car, and its sufficient, and there are now pro gears for it I can use. This wasnt the case until recently. In as much as why an 8 3/4 over a 9 inch ? , well a 9inch wouldnt be legal, and the NHRA wouldnt approve its use in a Mopar (if youre talking about the 3rd member) This on the other hand is much stronger than a stock 8 3/4 even braced, the NHRA already shot down a fabricated 8 3/4 rear, but this one is kosher. So I had 2 choices, a 60 or an 8 3/4 , I think ill be one of the few although I know there are a few other going to run this. It will work well and its minimilast, thats usually my approach, I would rather break and replace things than build them like a battleship. But then again I come from a GP bike racing background, minimalist is kind of the order of the day. Id swisscheese the floors and the entire car if I could get away with it. Its kinda like do you like mustard or ketchup on your hotdog at this point. Cheers Chris Quote:

Re: Future MPR Race Cars and stuff. Pics
The 8 3/4 will be fine in an automatic car. I am having my 742 case and r & p treated by Jim Bailey. Will be just fine.
