Re: John Force crash in Virginia
The recovery period for a traumatic brain injury is a long slow process. Not much is known on a week by week basis. Most likely John is done driving for at least the remainder of this season. I am sure there will be periodic updates as his recovery continues. All we know now is he survived the accident and is recovering in the hospital. I am sure the family is concerned as well as everyone else that is a fan of drag racing.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
My wife Teresa had a bathroom fall with a concussion last year in May. She is 72 years old and her doctor has told her it may take years to fully recover as she is talking slowly and has to use a cane or walker to get around.
Some days she seems to be making good progress and others she struggles with things like walking in open spaces as she has a fear of falling. I work for NHRA and have reduced my schedule to help with her struggle. John Force is 75 and took a much greater hit than Teresa and as much as I want to wish him a speedy recovery, I can identify with the struggles he will face. I keep them both in my prayers. |

My family and I have seen the outpour of uplifting words and support over the last couple of weeks and we are so appreciative of you all. It truly means so much to us. My dad has made some great progress here in Virginia, but he still has a long road ahead. The next step is getting him moved to a rehabilitation center. We are so blessed to be a part of this amazing racing community. Nobody is tougher than my dad, and I know it will be everyone's support that helps him get through these next steps in his recovery. Thank you everyone!" 9h |

Latest information from Alan Reinhart.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
I had seen that video. Alan did a great job of explaining what happened and how the teams have been in discussion about this situation.
With that being said, I hope John Force, his family and the doctors involved come up with a great plan for John's future in the sport. In my opinion, John should take a long and hard look about stepping away from the seat and become a car owner. He could still be at every event and be a part of his racing operation. John has contributed so much to the sport and I pray that he will still be a part for several years to come. My thoughts, his decision. |
Re: John Force crash in Virginia
John just posted his retirement on Facebook. I hope he stays involved in the sport. What a great broadcaster he would make! Ray

This link does not work for me and I don't find anything else online about a retirement announcement. However I do see that he has been released from the Arizona rehab center for outpatient rehab near his home in California. Bill |
Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Yeah, I'm not sure that Facebook link is legitimate. That doesn't appear to be an "official" Brittany Force page.
Regardless, here is the update from yesterday: https://competitionplus.com/drag-rac...ets-to-go-home |
Re: John Force crash in Virginia
I will not believe it Ray UNTIL I see it on NHRA .com….

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
same here. There is no reason for Force to make that announcement today, everyone knows he's done for at least the rest of this season.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Sorry guys. I am not a FB guy. John Force Racing page does not show a retirement. Some people have to much time on their hands to create pages for other people.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
The FB account that mentions the retirement is labelled "Brittany force", note the lower case 'f'. Her actual account (I think) is "Brittany Force", with a capital 'F'.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
That fake Brittany account is constantly posting dumb stuff to get clicks in different groups I'm in.

I don't think this is fake! He is looking good and acting more like himself. God bless John and his family! Ray

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
I had listened to this video early today. I found it to be the most sincere, humble speech that John Force has ever made.
I loved it when he said that he was listening to his doctors. Best thing he can do in this situation. God Bless YOU John and keep getting better. |
Re: John Force crash in Virginia
GOAT.
Keep on, |
Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Great to see Force well on the road to recovery. You could see in the message that he still is not at full speed. He did sound like he will make a full recovery and be back at the racetrack. Not sure about driving again and he does not need to do that. He is one of the greatest of all time drag racers and the face of NHRA. Best wishes on a full and complete recovery.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Thank you, Ed, for sharing this article.
John Force needs to take care of himself and be there for his family/friends and sponsors. He has nothing to prove to anyone, he has done it all. Came from humble beginnings and has achieved greatness in the drag racing world. In listening to John talk lately, he has become a very grateful and more humble person, in my opinion. Jack Beckman, in my opinion, is the perfect choice to occupy the seat of John's funny car. I guess it is Jack's car now. Just my .02 cents. |
Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Glad to see he is getting better---He knows it and so do those around him know it but he will never drive a funny car ever again-he just has to accept that fact--no Doctor will ever sign a release to allow him to drive-- also Jack Beckman should be continuously monitored for his touch with Vertigo where he had to withdraw from a race this summer--- It ( Vertigo)NEVER fully goes away it might subside for a bit only to appear in an instant -Next time he might be going 330 MPH when it kicks in--I speak from experience I have had Vertigo for over 20 years and mine has progressed to Meniere's Disease. In the beginning it started to be brief spells maybe for a few seconds then as time passed the attacks would happen more frequently and for longer duration--- your balance becomes all screwed up and you stagger when you walk plus dizziness gets worse--- One of the questions the medical physical is have you had dizzy spells ---He better be careful how he answers that question---FED 387

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Meniere's Disease runs in my family.. My grandmother, uncle and my dad suffer from it.. I am hoping I dont end up with it.. My dad cant lay on his back and work under a car anymore.. gets so dizzy he gets sick..

John should look at people like Richard Childress, Rick Hendrick, Junior Johnson, and Roger Penske that went on to bigger things after their racing careers ended.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Saw today the Hight won't be back either. They signed Austin Prock to a 3 year contract.
