Stock just made our 2nd run. HOT, hot, hot! 98 degrees, DA 3479'.

Lots of people still playing qualifying games! We get 1 more today, but I have heard a few people say they are going to skip it.

What is the low down with Mark Faul DQ listed as a nova then his chevelle. How many beers did he have last night. D6 needs the MAN.

He's in Brad Plourd's car this weekend

This isn't fun anymore! 101 degrees!!! I made it thru sitting in the stands, me and 7 other people. Looks like there were quite a few spins that time. Emmons, Bureski, Fitzsimmons for a few. Most people slowed down 3 or more.

Well, Larry has to go for the drug test. It will probably come back like it did the last time: "Boy, you sure lead a dull life!"

More later. I think I am in the AC for the afternoon!

Driving Brad's nova. Failed fuel check first pass when Brad had some bad gas where he tested last. Everything was fine q2, even though I'm still listed on Allstar qualifying as my Chevelle and DQ for some reason. National event sheet is correct.

Thanks very much to Brad for letting me use his car and going through teardown!

Was low key last night with the beers. Jackie's long island iced teas instead. Yum! LOL

Hey Patsy, tell Larry to go online tonight so he can study the different types for his test tomorrow. I heard that it's pretty easy, but I do not know how many different types you have to try to get the proper results. Kind of like wine, after a couple of samples, it's hard to determine the flavor of the following samples. Good luck to you all this weekend.

Don't worry about the heat. Just put some sand around the RV, sprinkle it with water every so often, splash some on yourself and wear a bathing suit, just like your at the beach! TA DA

Re: "Live" from Route 66 Jegs All-Stars Nationals in Joliet

4785 feet of air during round three of Stock. And 132 degree track temp, 104 degree air temp. Severe weather is starting to form over the lake, and pushing south, so keep your eyes on the radar around here.

It's been hot, but surprisingly very smooth racing. Very few clean ups and those that occurred were very quickly handled. Lots of 1000' racing until round three also, run order in Superstock should change dramatically after round three. We start off with round one eliminations in Super Street at 9 am tomorrow, then Stock, Super Gas, Superstock, and so on.

I got some great pictures during round two of stock and hope to post later. Didn't get to see much Superstock, round three we "watched" from the radio in the air conditioned motorhome. I couldn't take another second in this heat. Even my dogs couldn't get back in the air fast enough after short pee break outside. It's just too hot.

q 1 .038 9.598
q 2 .-019 9.596
q 3 ..031 9.631

Not bad, but not "3 at 9.59".

This is the first Joliet/nationals/all stars we have missed in 6 years and I really miss it. It is an outstanding facility and the local folks are absolutely the best....it is a b----h getting old. LOL. Safe races to all.

so, do you make "balls out" runs every pass? If you do, you are one in a hundred....additionally, she has number one on her windshield....just maybe she knows what she is doing. Like many, she has beaten me. It is not a shame...she is a heck of a driver is a very good car.

A Rat motor 69 Camaro SS car running that close is pretty good considering the air got worse each round and the track temp was up there.
I don't know either (the racer Jackie Alley and the keyboard racer fred)but I am impressed with the Camaro and their team. Once again, surprised someone can come oon here and throw some rocks on here when they clearly don't have any stones. It sure loooked like she was way tighter than your runs..... Oh, once again, unsportsmanlike snide comments and yet, this guy fred, is not at the track racing.

Well here it is another steamy hot day in Joliet! 81 already, but only going up to 92 today. 10 degrees should make a lot of difference. Super Street is out 1st at 9 with 1st round, then stock. We only have one round today, then 2 in the morning. Heard a funny story about someone looking for someone yesterday and a person who knew where he was said--"No, no you don't want to go in there. He is laying on the floor of his motorhome in his underwear!" Anything to cool off!!

Well more later!

Charlie Bob?

Larry Hill 06-29-2012 11:15 AM

Re: "Live" from Route 66 Jegs All-Stars Nationals in Joliet

It looked like something was wrong with Charlie Bob's car and he was hoping for a red-light in the other lane. After that didn't happen, he just cruised down the track. We had a better light this morning, but the car wouldn't run the number. Randy Sheperd broke something.

We are down for severe thunderstorms. It is black outside. It is calling for 60 mph winds, quarter size hail and it has just started raining. NHRA gave us all warnings in time for everyone to get their awnings in and race cars puts up! Thank you! Hopefully this will pass over and we will be back to racing shortly.

Love your pictures Patsy, looks like a series of "Where's Waldo?" or should I say "Where's WALLY?" HA! I'm enjoying mild 80 degrees and pleasant mountain breezes here at the farm in Vermont. About to pour a glass of wine and sit by the pool. You and Larry should stop by!

They have been back on the track for a while now. Pro round one should be coming up soon. There are still showers in the area, and it looks a little dark to the north, we might get another shower or two soon. Much better temps than yesterday but much more humid now.

Karen, Vermont is not on our schedule for this year, but who knows for next year?? Is Epping close??

The pros are running their 2nd round now. Looks like we might get another storm in the night tonight. The temp is down to 81 and it feels a lot better out there.

A comment about the drug testing going on here. First of all, I think it is a good thing that they are testing. But these people need to use some common sense! This morning during the first round of eliminations they were in the lanes handing out their paperwork for testing. And you have to sign whenever they give you the papers. Judi Bureski already had her helmet on, the engine running and pulling up under the tower whenever these people approached her. She had to roll down the window, take off her helmet, listen to their speil, then sign as she is just a couple of cars back from running the first round. She ended up with a -.116 red light. I am sure everyone has their procedures they go thru when getting ready to race, and this was bound to throw you off. Anyway, someone needs to just use some common sense about when to give out the tests!!

Yes Epping is close, 130 miles from here...less than 3 hour drive. And Lebanon Valley, NY is 85 miles. Had a division race there last weekend.

That is absolutely ludricus, they should even be doing that in the staging lanes. Common sense prevails they should be going to the pit areas of the racers. They probably hired some people from McDonalds to go out there and hand the paper work out. This is just my opinion but that is just down right stupid to do it like that.
