Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
I do believe to run J it must be the 281 300hp that Ford detuned with a larger throttle body and ported heads to 235hp

Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Did ya'll only get 2 runs?
|
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National

Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
That track is definately downhill.Have someone stand at 1000' on the right side of the track and look at the bottom wall of the stands. It looks to be at least 10' to 12' lower at 1000'.you'll see that the outer perimeter wall of the track runs paralell with the bottom of the wall.Bruton Smith wasn't about to build a "slow" track.

Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
I see they have posted Qualifying 3. I don't see Bill Hawk on the qualifying sheets. Did he not pass tech? Ken, you said yesterday that they checked his car. Enquiring minds want to know!

Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Last year I was there for the 4-Wide and after one of the Fuel Cars oiled down a lane, they brought out the "soap & water" clean machine and you could see the water flowing toward the finish line. DEFINITELY DOWN HILL!

Did anyone notice Garlits has picked it up? 10.08 in A that is real quick for him. I wonder what has been done for the change?

Hudlow is listed as a 69 Mustang. What happened to the 67 Shelby?
|
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Larry, Robbie Hudlow is driving Bill's car this weekend.
I think its more of optic illusion they the track being down hill, but who knows. I was talking to Jason Line for bit. His Buick is bad ***. 2nd qualifying shot he clicked the 60's with the rear tires, I hope someone got a shot of that run. 3700 pound Buick doing wheelstands.... WOW ! Anyway, Jason is having a ball, man does he love stock. It is a pleasure to talk to him, always has a smile, and just happy to be racing, The in car is from Jim Boburka, he is racing Jason Line. I promise pictures are coming soon. |
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Anyone else notice Jason Line is also joining us in Stock this weekend
Returning to his roots? Add "Big Daddy" and we are a show :-) peace |
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
from the looks of things stock eliminator now runs 1000' just like the fuel cars
|
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Kenny, follow my directions and then let me know if that track isn't down hill.I don't think they would build the stands and suites that unlevel.Like I said,Bruton Smith isn't stupid.

Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Hey Ken or Tom - This showed up on DRC - first round of stock
" 39 117 AA/SA Norm Hall, Waldorf MD, '08 Mustang 10.114 10.60 -0.486" Then disappeared from the second & thrd runs. I know Norm is there with his S/S'er but what was this about? any idea? |
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Mix-up with the Competition Numbers...Norm is only there in the SS'er. Not sure who the mixup was but if you look on the sheet, there were always 59 cars.

Don, It was supposed to be Brooks Lee. Just a mix up.
Here is the first batch of pictures. Tom beat me to it, so there are some duplicates. I hope to have Chuck Veach with the in car and Jason Line tomorrow. It was a little hectic today, but I'm getting the hang of jumping from car to car with the camera. Its been a great day of racing along with great weather. There were some issues with the track, but I think overall it was okay. It is a shame more racers can't get to this race, what a great facility they have here. Class for stock will be first out at 830. The race I want to see is Iacono and Pendarvis, and don't count out Jason Line for C, he could be the dark horse. A B will also be very interesting. The weather in the morning will be in the upper 50's. I wonder who will be willing to take the chance at horsepower, should be fun to watch. |
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Ken,
Just sent you some pictures from today. Hopefully you got them and get them posted. Good luck to all the S/SS guys tomorrow. Put on a great show. Butch |

Next batch of pictures. I got them Butch. I will try to put them on tonight or tomorrow, thanks so much.
I forget to mention the pre stage bulbs. They are blue led's and when you put the top led on it is a half circle, when you stage is make a full circle. Not a big issue but many did not know about, some thought is was just for the pros. I did add it to the latest news section so everyone could read up about the change, but I guess not many read it. No one that I talked to had any issues with the new bulbs. |

Was just out talking on the phone and discovered that somebody scraped the bumper on my truck. THANKS! Ridiculous. Heard a story just like last year about a wallet theft from a motorhome. Lock your stuff up! Sad that we have to deal with this kind of crap. I can't remember the last time I went to a race nad had to worry about my stuff. Ridiculous.
On a lighter note, more pics.... |

Ed, the weight breaks are so wide in FWD that even at 225 heavy he probably isn't even close to the next class. Jim

Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
anyone know what engine Gary Russel's 67 E/S Camaro is running? It is a 302? Used to be one near me called the Purple Haze that John Heck drove. At one time it was an E/S 302 until he put an aluminum head 396 in it. I think he sold it to someone in Tennessee a couple years ago.

Good morning all, its a 53 right now partly sunny, going up to the low 70's.
Temp 53 Humid 78% Bar 29.49 DA 586ft Here are some more pictures from John DiBartolomeo, DRAG RACING ACTION Magazine. I want to thanks Michael, Tom and Butch for some great photos. Going to make it short, need to get ready for class, I don't have much of shot, but going to try anyway, be back later. Chris I will ask Gary. |
Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
Yes, Ed that would be the case, however, as Jim explained the wide weight breaks would require me adding over 400lbs to make the next class. I'm sure if it were A-B-C cars that were 225 heavy and 400 light, they would scream bloody murder.
First call for Class.... 54.7 F, 79%, 29.43, 599' DA |

Re: "Live From" NHRA 4-Wide National
They're going to re-run Joe Reid and I. I have no idea why, but was told we'll re-run during the 2nd rnd of Class due to a "computer error". Not sure what the error was, because he beat me any way you slice it. They gave us a heads-up start... Was it supposed to be handicapped? Ahdunno. Clear as mud. There's another pair or two that will also be re-run for the same reason(?)
Wind hasn't turned around as it was predicted, still cross-head. 58.7 F, 76%, 29.43, 913' DA |
