First off their is no room to move the race on the schedule, Second I think there is enough support in the Northeast to support this race. Third it's a 1 day race to win $5,000 dollars or more, possibly a "Top 16 High Roller race to win $1,000" and a bracket race on Sunday to possibly win $2,500, not a 3 or 4 day race to win $1,800.00 and be pushed to the back of the line when something goes wrong.
Yes, it is your decision as to pick what race you want to go and yes this will be a modern day "David vs. Goliath". I hope you pick the one that will treat you with the up most respect and still thinks about the sportsman racers because it's run by one!

It will be interesting to see how the .90 racers react to this schedule in comparason to the stock and S/S guys when this happens to them. I wish you luck on your race. It sounds like fun and a good deal.

To the .90 population, (You know who you are)
This is a race for the .90 racers that we all have wished and talked about for years. Rob is actually pulling something off here that only all of us have talked about at the beverage coolers for 20+ years.

I was a MASGA participant for the complete 2010 season and even ran a 2010 S/Comp circuit race also. This type of family type racing is where its at. Myself, family and crew love these races.

I have raced with Rob and his Dad for years and they are as genuine as you get. Dedicated .90 racers.

Its great to see the sponsors come on board also. The best "loosing package" award is great. I could have won that a few times last year alone.
(Dutch classic 2010 Semi's comes to mind )

We raced at Numidia last year and since all the work was completed to the track , it was the smoothest track "all the way down" that I have been on in years.

I can tell you that if you show up and support it, it could be a possiblity that may happen on a yearly basis.. I would love to see that.

Good luck Rob and I will see ya there..We are excited..

Amen brother!!...Since I moved to Pittsburgh from the Buffalo area finding a .90 race outside of a IHRA Div has been tough...This sucker is penciled in...only thing that will keep me from going is weather...breakage...or the wife(J/K...she likes when I'm gone..)

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia Dragway

After the 5k race is complete on Saturday we will be adding a Top 16 or 32 high roller race for each class depending on interest. Whomever is interested will need to come see myself before the semi final round of the 5 k race. We will then draw 16 or 32 cars from a hat (if you are not picked u do not have to pay). The 16 or 32 cars will get 1time sho...t if they want it and will then be randomly paired for 1st round, you will flip for lane choice. It is $100 entry fee and the payout is 100% returned. Same setup as the 5K race... this is not a bracket race - pro tree, index racing. Here is the payout:

16 cars: (4 rd race)
W: $1,000
Ru: $400
Semi: 100 x 2

32 cars: (5 rd race)
W: $1,700
Ru: $900
Semi: $150 x 2
3rd rd: $75 x 4

It's only been a week and a half since I put this all together so nothing as of yet. I have a decent amount of people who are going to pre-enter next weekend at the MASGA Banquet.

Now your talkin...........excellent idea adding a shootout. Heck, if there is enough interest, and time, have a couple shootouts........maybe an 8 car 100 entry winner take all.

Damien,

I have to do what I can to draw the cars for this race especially the ones who may live far away from this race. I knew setting up the race against an IHRA Race and the D-3 race at Bowling Green may kill the car count but, now with Charlotte being added to the mix I know I have to step up my game..haha. I know the ride maybe long but, trust me this race will be one that will have people talking for a long time and I'm hoping to start a tradition of doing this every year.

I think if this is successfull a series at 4-6 tracks ...both IHRA and NHRA would be a great idea. There are plenty of .90 racers who have parked thier rides with the lack of contingency support and rising expenses. Ohio..PA and NY I think would have great support from both racers and tracks alike. Can you tell I have been thinking about this...:D

Ted does a great job with the TNT series....I think following his model and what you have done with this race we could have an alternative to the dwindling car counts at the IHRA events and the "redheaded stepchild" attitude of NHRA.....

Eric,
If this is a successful race we may expand to maybe 2 events next year. I've already been approached about doing one at Maple Grove or Maybe Atco next year by the racers. I want to get this race under my wings and then work on ideas for the following season. I don't want too go to big with these events and expand it too fast plus when NHRA or IHRA races are not going on you have MASGA and the Super Comp Assoc. I'm part of MASGA and help Tom out with the S/C Assoc so the last thing I'm about to do is step on their toes and put an event on top of their races. This idea has been in the work for awhile and I know I was approached a few years ago by Mr For Real John Asta about doing something but, we just couldn't put something together.
All I have to say is in a time where entry fees are going up, contingency payout if going down, gas is going up ad payout is staying the same I challenge every .90 racer out there to bypass 1 NHRA Race entry fee and put it towards what will be the future of sportsman racing and enter the .90 Nationals.

That's the reason that these races never take off because no matter how hard you try to make things great for the racer there's always 1 person who cry's and whines about what you do for them. Maybe I should make the $5,000 payout all in gift certificates also?

So when should I expect your entry fee and a Thank you D1...AKA the Man with No Name??

Don't Worry Rick and Eric this guy will not get me down. I will keep doing what I'm doing and adding sponsors everyday to make this race better and better for the sportsman racer. As Derek, Tom Goldman and a few more can attest to I maybe young but, I come from a school of hard knocks because my father is a very hard nosed man. He's pointed me in the right direction at a young age and always told me to just brush it off and get back up. Look forward to seeing all my Super Gas Friends this weekend at the MASGA Banquet.

I would have loved to get any gift certificate at the Dutch Classic last year, especially these!
With the current economy, I applaud the business owners who stepped up to the plate with additional awards and money!....They see the potential in getting a race like this off the ground.

D1 I understand where your coming from but, beggers can't be choosers either. I can't call up a company and ask for sponsorship for this race and when they offer Gift Cards I tell them Nah, No Thanks I wanted Cash. Companies remember that and come the next year when I call up and ask again there going to tell me to go pound sand. I have to go with what they are offering me. I would be happy that I'm even searching for sponsors. I could have just said "OK 5K on the table, winner take all, no contingency...good luck".
I mean it's also only February I still have 6 more months to work on stuff like slicks, more stuff towards racing and motorhome gas (yes I've thought about the travel that the racers put into this and I plan on giving back)...Numidia is a 4 1/2 hour drive for me so I'm not just stepping out of my house and at the track! Remember all these sponsors are putting up money for the race...

The "Enhancements" that they are putting on us is insane and everyone keeps taking and taking it. Trust me I will put money on it that even with 5k on the line some D1 racers will still travel to Charlotte and Bowling Green because it's NHRA and they want a wally. I talked with a fellow S/G racer the other night on the phone and he told me to get to and from Charlotte last year was over $600 in fuel! You add that onto entry fee, crew fee, food, sitting around for 5 days so you can win $1,800 plus contingency's that come 6 months later or because your converter was built in 2005 and is out of date they are not going to pay you....so sorry that I make my stuff last. I know it's a "Poor Man's Sport" and if we did it for the $$$ we must have been drinking too much the night before but, I love the family atmosphere the bonding that I have with my father and the competitiveness that we all share inside to win. I mean it's time for some of us to stand up and have a voice and balls and venture out on our own. I see the writing on the wall for .90 racing and it's very very bleak and as far as I'm concerned I still have a good 20 to 30 years of racing left in me and I want to see the .90 classes survive and the only way it will happen is if someone takes a stand now.

It's been a few days since I put up any updates on .90 Nationals and I must say it's been a very productive one.

Well, we finally have our 1st entries into the race as the Super Gas guys come through and are the first to enter. I would like to thank the following drivers who have pre-entered into this race and are making this a reality:

Tom Goldman
Derek Clark
Pete Luciano
Earl Nichols Jr.
Ron Orbin

We also added a few sponsors to the list:

First off my engine builder Bob Kaiser and his company Bob Kaiser Race Engines have come on board for the race.

Even though they cannot make it to this great race Bob Phillips & George Donhauser have added their names to the list of sponsors. I would like to thank George and his company Del Haven Service Center out of Bel Air, Md and Bob and his company ACD Throttle Stops out of Oley, Pa.

Also added to the list of Gift Certificates is JE Pistons who are stepping up to the plate to give the Winner of each class a $ 250.00 GC towards a set of pistons and $ 150.00 GC to the runner-up.

I would like to thank Super Gas Racer Joe Eckel who will be posting the "Rockaway Racing Best Package Award" for the Super Gas Driver with the "Best Overall Package @ the .90 Nationals". The Super Gas driver who has the best package during eliminations will receive $50 dollars from Joe. Thanks Joe for posting up this award!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia Dragway

So let me get this straight.....The Gift Certs are an ADDED Bonus....it doesn't take away from the cash that will be given out to the winners and such. So if you win Super Comp you get $5,000 plus the ADDED GC (In which you can take, leave or sell them to your friends) for a $155 entry fee for 1 day of racing plus another chance at another $1,000 or more for the high roller race at night for $100.00 entry and then a bracket race on Sunday that could pay up to $2,500 to win for a $65.00 dollar entry fee......

So for an entry fee of $320.00 you have the chance to win $ 8,500.00 or more for 2 days of racing...hmmm

BKSG1198 02-24-2011 09:07 PM

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia Dragway

D1 we've missed you

If you did not see in the fine print for that race states: Less then 175 cars payout will then be $10,000....double entries are allowed. $100 Buybacks for 1st and 2nd round.

You know if I could get 175 Super Gas cars and let everyone double enter and buyback in Super Gas I'd pay $15,000 to $20,000 to the winner also but, we all know that is almost impossible.

PS matt schurman its time for you to bring somthing to the table FREE generator tune up to the winner.oh sorry thats not cash you two **** heads. But rob we will still take it.if offered.

Rob not sure what my plans for this race is yet...right now I have something else scheduled for that weekend that I can't miss...but ya never know August is a long way off...

I commend you on trying to get this going, cause I think that non Division races are the wave of the future...NESSA, MASGA, etc... (gift Cert's or not !!!! ha )

Speaking of gift certs. why would a GC from Sherman be any good, he's expected to fix our generators for free all the time anyway !!!!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia Dragway

Welcome Back John!!

On that Note I like to welcome Mr. John Asta to the .90 Nationals along with Big Oak Fuel as a sponsor for the race. Thanks John for the support!

Yes John is correct from now on if you have nothing to say positive about this race then don't say it! If you want to discuss something you can PM me or e-mail me and I'll be glad to talk to you about it. I will not reply to anymore negative comments. I've already talked with the Class Racer Admin about this and any post will be removed if it has anything negative to say in it.

That's the difference between Us and the Stk/SS Board. You see nothing negative coming out of their mouths about Brian and Lee's race and the racers are jumping on board left and right with entries and sponsorships to support it and make it work. I'm trying something that has never been attempted and I'll be dammed if I will fail at it. As John said go to your local speed shop or local store and see if they will become a sponsor (It's $150 dollars were not asking for your 1st newborn child) or if they want to do something like Joe Eckel did and put 50 bucks up for a perfect run or best reaction time or longest tow. All these little things add up and are an added bonus for people to attend.

In closing and from now on it's all about being positive and if you want to be a Yahoo and downgrade this race then keep it to yourself or come find me at the track and tell me because their are too many racers actually looking forward to this race then to have a few yahoo's rain on their parade.

Ken Moses Race Transmissions
Lucky’s Race Cars
GAS – Goldman Autorace Specialties
Motorsports Innovation
Select Transmissions
Numidia Dragway
TRC - Total Race Components
Hudson Performance
S&W Race Cars

I applaud you for this post. You are correct...some will travel to the NHRA race just because its an NHRA race. If I had a S/G car I would go to your race rather than put up with NHRA's BS.

Terry thanks for the compliments...hopefully everything comes together and we get a good turnout for the race. Maybe tough with Bowling Green, Charlotte and Richmond all on the same weekend but, as any political officer does I will be out and about handing out fliers, kissing baby's and good looking woman to get them to attend....haha. The way Gas is climbing it maybe putting a damper on a lot of peoples racing schedules for the year.

Just to let everyone know that the website is alive and active. Please visit www.dot90nationals.com for information. On the site you will find sponsorship forms, entry forms, and fliers for the race to hand out to racers I may not be able to reach.

A big Thanks goes out to Top Dragster / Super Comp Racer Jeff Serra who did the website design for the .90 Nationals! If you like the design Jeff can design a site for your business or association today. Please e-mail him at jserra139m@yahoo.com

Ok I had a few days off to get some R&R and race cardboard sleds down a snow-tubing hill but, it's time to get back to work and get this race going. Over the past week we've added a few new sponsors along with some more entries to the list. First off I would like to Thank and Welcome aboard these sponsors for the .90 Nationals....

Marc Erickson at Auto Meter. Auto Meter will be giving a $200 product certificate to the winner and a $100 certificate to the runner up.

Kevin Cradduck at Nitroplate who is giving us a Certificate for a Free Header Coating (Value of $385). This will be part of the prizes given away to anyone who is pre-entered before July 17th

Kyle Koretsky of Nitro performance who has come on board as a primary sponsor and he also is going to put $ 50.00 up to the first Super Comp Driver who cuts a perfect light in eliminations.

Super Gas Racer Pat Iaonne will be giving 3 of his Suspension Rescue Quarter Turn Fastener tools to the winner of each class. Thanks Pat!

As far as entries go the Super Gas guys seem to be determined to meet the quota and want the $ 5,000 payout as we are up to 9 entries so far. As far as the other classes go we only have 1 Super Comp Entry and 0 Super Street guys...

The new additions to the field include:
Super Gas :
John Asta
Bob Keister
George Smith
Don Knoblick

Super Comp:
Jeff Serra

Remember May 31st is the 1st cutoff for entry into the race at $155.00 after that the fee goes up to $170.00. If you would like to pay in person I will be at the Atco D-1 National Open in April 7th to 10th, MASGA Race at Cecil County May 21st & 22nd and the Maple Grove D-1 Race just on Saturday and Sunday May 28th & 29th.

I would like to Thank Pat Versace of Competition Tire East (Goodyear) who is going to commit to product certificates to be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each class – S/C, S/G, S/ST. The value of the certificates will be as follows:

Winner - $100.00
Runner-up - $50.00

We keep adding to the list of great items to be given to the racers.
