On behalf of Dale, Toby, Jody and Cody Lang thank you for all the kind thoughts and good wishes. Janet's passing was untimely and sudden and the grief and pain is palpable.
People measure success in so many different ways and the unconditional love she had for her boys makes her a star.She NEVER hesitated to put her family's needs above her own. She loved racing and she was a friend to everyone. In the end she was where she wanted to be and doing what she loved. That is success.

Indeed a very sad day for all. It's hard when you lose a loved one. Everyday goes by you just hope and pray that they come walking in that door. Then reality sets in and you realize that their not. I don't know how it feels to lose a mother or a father, but when you love someone so much it's just hard to think about. Toby and Jody where very saddened to hear of this lose. Your thoughts and prayers are with us. Remember all the good times and keep her in your hearts.

A very sad day to say in the least. We enjoyed seeing and talking with Janet. My mother-in-law Karen Hilton and Janet would always find each other and would talk til it was time to race. God Speed Janet!!!! Plus we send our condolences to Jody and Toby.

The Worner family wishes to extent are heart felt condolences to the entire Lang family. Not many families get to be known first hand around the country and your mother certainly was the leader of one of the finest. Her presence at the races will be missed by many. I, for one, will miss are talks as we ran into each other at race tracks all over the country. She always had a smile and a kind word. She was always comfortable wherever she was and I'm sure she is now. God blessed all of us that knew her.

Jody & Toby, my thoughts and prayers are with you both (and your brother Cody as well). I too am going to miss her cruising thru the pits and in the staging lanes out here in the desert, and as others have said her warm and friendly nature definitely made being at the drags much less of a drag (especially during the long waits inbetween qualifying runs). She will definitely be missed.... :(

Of all of the phone calls I`ve ever had,this was one of the toughest to hear. Jody and Toby,my condolences to you,as well as your brother,father and family. We all will have fond memories of your mom,and for me it is three hugs. She made you feel like you were her family,and proud of your accomplishments,but none like the ones of her boys. Toby,Jody and Lang family.I was very saddened to hear about Janet.Your mother was a great person to all of us.She is one of the big reasons it's enjoyable to go to the track and see friends.I am glad I had a good visit with her,in vegas last year while waiting in the line up. Shawn Kvaas

Toby & jody we are very saddened by the passing of a very special mom. it's a loss to everyone who knew her, she was one of the nicest lady's at the track. when i knew that she was at the track i always looked her up to say hi, and to talk about how good of a year you all were having. she truly loved her family, i know you had to be proud to say EVERYBODY THIS IS MY MOM. a very sad day for the WOOD family.

Janet you will be truly missed,,when i started bracket racing she was there, when i started stock & superstock racing she was there..she will always be remembered with the 3 wheeler and note pad in hand @ the fence.. for so many years......Im sure i can speak for many NW racers. Janet was and will be a great lady to remember...

Mike and I just heard the news about MaMa Lang. How will any of us that shared "family style" moments with her during a race EVER forget the small woman that spoke softly but moved mountains with a smile or a kind word. We will cherish evenings spent bench racing outside that little travel trailer that housed one of the worlds most precious cargos, MaMa Lang. Our hearts break for Toby, Jody, Cody and other family members but we rejoice with them for blessings she brought each of us. I say with all honesty racing will never be the same for us without seeing that little red three wheeler zipping around the lanes.

Toby, I hope you will call us if we can do anything at all.

It is always difficult to see the reference of a loss in the topic line. This is a very tough one obviously for many of us. I can't remember a race where I did not see Janet making her way around the pits in support of Toby and Jody. And always with a smile, a warm greeting or time for a quick chat. Generally speaking good parents "make" good children. I have to say that it the case with the Langs. Toby and Jody are 2 of my favs in our pits and obviously 2 of the toughest competitors that any of us see!
Toby and Jody rest assured that Janet will always be with you. Let the warm memories create peace in you and get you through the tough times. Obviously your racing family has your backs. Let us know if you need anything.

Janet enjoyed being at the track and had the greatest respect for those who really knew how to accept a win or a loss. I was always impressed by the number of people she knew and enjoyed chatting with. Thanks to the little red three wheeler, Janet could buzz around getting run sheets, make it to the starting line, keep up to speed with old friends and make new ones.

Toby and Jody presented her with a new laptop and she would check all races and the class racer forum before opening Martha Stewart's website. (And it was always at hand during/after a race.)

In spite of a spinal problem she was always ready to travel with or drive one of her sons rigs and was pretty damn good at laying down some serious mileage.

I have always suspected, but can't prove, the smell of nitro contributed to her love of the sport. I appreciate that so many racers got to know my BFF, my special, irreplaceable lady.

I was never a member of this forum until now because I felt I had to say a few words about Janet. I first met Janet thru my friendship with Jody. I don't race, in fact, Jody was the one who got me hooked on drag racing as a fan. Thru this friendship I was introduced to his mom Janet and immediately was aware of how nice and kind of a person she was! I could not step foot inside her trailer without her wanting to cook me a meal! She would always laugh about how much stuff I would buy from the Nitro mall or any other stand. I would always have fun with her on taking her picture because she did not like it, but you know I'm glad I took those pictures! You did not have too know her well too understand how passionate she was about her two sons racing, Jody&Toby. She was so proud. My personal favorite memory of her was when Jody doubled up a few years ago at Pacific raceways at a divisional and the smile on her face could of reached Mt. Rainier from the track! My wife Jill quickly fell in love with her and when she was not at a race she would always ask how Janet was doing first before she asked how Toby or Jody were doing. The world is a emptier place without her, but I'm glad I can say like all of you, she was my "FRIEND"...........

I am so very sorry for the loss.

I'll miss not seeing her at the track, buzzing around on her 3 wheeler.

She was passionate about racing, and supporting her boys.

What a great tribute this thread is! To see people from all around the US and Canada giving support really shows her impact on the racing community!

Jody, Toby, and the entire Lang family we are deeply sorry for your loss. Your mom Janet always greeted Deb and I at every race we were at. She truly was a wonderful woman. Not only did Division 6 loose a special person but all of NHRA drag racing has. She was a common fixture on her three wheeler and note pad jotting down notes on the starting line as the christams tree. Jody, Toby, I am sure your mom is going to be still on that three wheeler in heaven and giving you spiritual advise in the staging lanes. God be with you in these difficult days.

You guys should be proud to have spent so much time with her. Every time I saw her she would give me a hug, a big smile, and always have something nice to say to me. A genuine lady with 2 genuine and talented sons. She will be missed by all and by me for sure!

I think my heart stopped for a moment when I saw this very sad post. I sat on the wall many times with her over the years , waiting for the stockers to come out. When we changed over to Super Stock she would still make sure to wave or say Hey when she saw me or Fred. We will miss her dearly. God Speed Janet Lang.
