This is our first National for 2025 and I really miss Alan Reinhart already.

I feel it is important for the decision makers of a race tracks to solve the issue of saving more than 1 pit space ,The Pitting workers should be the ones respomsible for the enforcemnet of this ".BUT" in all caes the people who pit the racers have a agends for certain racers to save a spot for them ?? not sure how this works but i suspect it has to do with some form of favortisim or???? Now since i am getting "OLDER" if i do not get a decent pit spot I will asked for my money back and leave |

This works absolutely great until organized theft/crime is involved. Think Gators/Charlotte in the 2000's. An organized ring just waited till a class was called and then hit every rig, truck, motorhome, and trailer that was open. They feasted until one person was caught at the Gators, and RH caught one in his MH @ Charlotte. This was just down from where we parked. RH allegedly beat the perp in a cage match (inside the MH). Then threw the perp out of the front entrance. Somehow the perps hand ended up under the front wheel of the MH (The wheel was 2-3 inches off the ground just prior to his hand being stuck under the wheel). Police could not come to a conclusion as to how the perps hand got in the position it was in. NHRA then started mixing the parking so entire sections of the pits would not be vacant when classes were called. Bill |

Having said that, the situation creates opportunities for some different voices behind the mic at the national and divisional level. This weekend, I personally got to be part of the announcing team and called eleven hours of sportsman racing at the NHRA Las Vegas Four-Wide event. That included multiple rounds of the sportsman categories that you care about - which, by the way, I care about them as well. I'm not Alan; none of us are, and I don't think we're trying to be, either. He was immersed in all the nuances of these cars, and can explain the race in front of him in terms that fans of all levels could understand. There's not a lot of people that can do both of those things well. I'm personally not a "car guy" at that level, although I do love the sport and appreciate everything that goes into it. I'm just trying to do the best job I can behind the mic in an entertaining and informative way, and to do whatever I can to help move the sport forward. I appreciate the opportunities when I'm given the chance. Not everyone is a fan of what I do, but for those of you that have shared positive feedback, thank you. I appreciate it. Warren |

My friend Peter from Sweden tells me at their races pit spots are assigned in advance to each racer. They ask the size of your rig and who you would like to pit next too. When you get to the track on the designated day there is no stacking, you simply drive in straight to your designated pit spot. Best of all, every pit spot has electrical hook ups.
