Re: '24 Div 7 track/s ?
Fallon probably lost money when they had divisionals. Parking isn't that good if your not the first few rigs.Hard to improve when you're not making money. These roads get long out west. Tucson was/is a long ride for northern Californis racers.California has the only fast tracks in division 7. The doubes are nice but one fast Bakersfield race in April would work with class. Maybe an open with one.

Re: '24 Div 7 track/s ?
Paul, my guess is most tracks aren’t getting rich hosting a Divisional race. Thus the move to tracks hosting doubles. Same entry fee with 2 less days of racing. Now tracks in D6 are charging a “gate fee” if you don’t want to hassle with paying online! Gate fee??? WTF?!?!
As for the west coast races I’ve been to 4 days for 2 races isn’t enough. 2 Shootouts, added bracket races and a few of the normal issues and the first race isn’t getting done until the day the 2nd race begins. Then it’s one hit and go for the 2nd race. Great bang for your buck? Does anyone know if tracks get a break on the fee nhra charges when it comes to having a double race? |
Re: '24 Div 7 track/s ?
Maybe Joe and Hunter can help as out with a race track in SoCal. I hear Hunter like Baggies. Whats he's address. Come On Man!

Re: '24 Div 7 track/s ?
Hi Jody, It seems most of us don't know the business/financial side of this. The only side I know. Everything is one less day but more money. You would think the track must get a break on having doubles. But then again we don't.

Re: '24 Div 7 track/s ?
Combining divisions 6 and 7 would eliminate most people from ever getting to all the division races. Your talking a 1500 mile swing for some and 1000 at minimum. At this point its losing its luster everyday. Hell we are painting vehicles with no intention of even putting sticker one the car. Our elected officials in questionable states are trying to get a rid of all the tracks they can.

Re: '24 Div 7 track/s ?
Not sure they actually were elected Paul. But it's sure a sad state of affairs from a dozen years ago. It was great at the Mission Divisional with dozens of cars with circled R's on the windows, top racers from back east and down south... now they don't even have a race. Ashcroft was another favorite and now it's sitting there overgrown by weeds.
Certainly promotion is much of it. I went to the Pinks All Out deal at Seattle, probably twice the crowd as the National Event which is a lot. But the racing was like a regular bracket event. If a quarter of those people could see any normal divisional with wheelstanding Stock and SuperStock cars, Comp cars, 6 second Top Sportsman/Dragster and low 5 second alky cars perhaps all tracks would clamor to get events. |

Re: '24 Div 7 track/s ?
At this point I’m beginning to wonder if there will be a Western Swing next year…sure hope not but seems like it’s lost it’s luster due to the track situation and the political environment on the west coast. Given the number of entries will they take the quotas even lower and go to two day events (shades of IHRA on the downside)? Thoughts?

Agree JM. No Pro stock or Comp on Friday night Qualifying Western Swing? We’ll see how Sonoma goes and maybe Monday we’ll have some answers for 2024. |
