Re: First three pair
I run 3 cars @ LODRS events- Stock/SS, Comp, JR dragster. During the late rounds I always let the officials know I am still in with 3 cars and will be late. During the early rounds I like to be in the middle as to read the track, weather and how far racers are on or off dial. Fletcher, Bertozzi, Santangelo, Etc. are always last. It has no advantage, except to look important and to aggravate you guys.

Re: First three pair
So when they call left side of the ladder is it only a suggestion to the "I'm going run last" racers who are on the left side of the ladder? Rules for thee but not for me?

Re: First three pair
I am on the SRAC for the Super Classes and I have brought up multiple times that I would actually like to see the first three pair done every round. It takes the guess work out of the personnel in the back of the lanes. And those thinking that there is an advantage to running at the back, I would argue that there is equally as an advantage to running early. Some of us really don't mind.....
Once you have been the first pair down the track on Sunday at Indy at 7:00 a.m. for third round (in the dark), you really dont mind. Hell, I actually like to go towards the front these days so I dont get stuck in a fuel check line. Last year: First pair down the track at Indy third round Stock Sunday First pair down the track at St. Louis third round Stock Sunday Second pair down the track at Houston second round Stock Sunday First pair down the track at Las Vegas second round Stock Saturday And before anyone makes the argument of high HP cars....the people with these cars CHOOSE to have these cars. It is not MY FAULT that you choose to have a high HP car, so line it up. |
Re: First three pair
I know this is slightly off-topic, but when Larry Croft had Kennedale then North Star near Denton, he basically ran the place with an iron hand.
He controlled the parking, staging, pairing, and racing. If you did not come to staging when called, he would close the lanes, and you missed that round. The racers respected him and complied with his direction. The rounds when quickly and efficiently. |
Re: First three pair
Having a high hp car is only bad when the crew gets complacent on track prep. OR leave Indy after winning class go to Earlville Iowa and have the track manager tell you the reason I spun was my car was the problem. And so it goes.

Re: First three pair
First 3 pair out sucks if you trying to get some sleep in from partying all night.

Re: First three pair
I would like to see, when the lane guy pairs you up, you go up right away. No waiting. Higher qualified car gets to chose lane.

As always Ron is the voice of reason.

Re: First three pair
I have run lanes for quite some time...... To combat the late comers, if I have one car in a pair, I will send him/her up and tell the pair behind to leave a spot in front for the habitual late comer The late comers usually bitch, but have no other choice but to run the round or go back to their trailer and load up......
