Re: Bill Bader Jr. "we are going to open"
You guys up north might not be exposed to this, yet, because of the weather. But most every Golf Course, including County owned, are open in Florida. Social distancing is not a problem when playing golf with me …. But, if you can social distance enough to play golf, my thought is with a little common sense it can be done at the drags.

Re: Bill Bader Jr. "we are going to open"
Our courses are closed and the hiking trails clearly indicate keeping a wide berth between yourself and other people.
Bill Bader has many obligations to deal with but the priority here and now should be to not place his patrons in jeopardy, regardless of their enthusiasm to race. We're staying home. |
Re: Bill Bader Jr. "we are going to open"
On this day last month we had lost 100 Americans to Covid 19, today we have lost more than 34,000... think real hard about that the next time some fool tries to convince you the danger has passed... Protect one another. All life is precious!

Re: Bill Bader Jr. "we are going to open"
I understand Bill’s frustration. It has to be a terrible feeling knowing that you could lose your business, one that you’ve put your heart and soul into for many years. Watching that video you can see the Anguish in his face and voice. All that being said, how do you open without a sanctioning body? How do you open without insurance? Who’s going to write the insurance policy in this day and time? What ambulance service is going against state regulations? I’m not saying it can’t happen but there are a lot of things to deal with.
There are thousands of small businesses in the country that won’t make it through this covid 19 crisis. My favorite neighborhood bar, that’s been in business for more than 40 years may not reopen. It’s heartbreaking. On the other hand, who’s going to sit in a crowded grand stand to watch racing or anything else. Who’s going to stand in a crowded bar on Friday night to get a drink? Until we have both a vaccine and good treatment options we are not going back to any kind of normal. I could see some businesses opening back up in limited ways by June, but my feeling is that we are going to be without spectator sports, other than on tv, for the rest of this year. |

The man says he put his profits back into the business, rather than a vault somewhere. He doesn't have cash on hand to survive ,without re-opening soon . He employs hundred of locals..Now down to three. He doesn't take a salary. Perhaps you ought to define "greed" for us. |

In addition to the PR hit that he and the track will take, there could also be lawsuits. It won't just be him ... it will be every other business and organization that their name on the track. Do you think his insurance company told him it is OK with his plan to reopen? In a case like this, I would define greed as when money overrides good judgement and common sense. |
Re: Bill Bader Jr. "we are going to open"
I don't worry about maintaining proper social distancing at the race track, but at the same time, I haven't touched a gas pump handle in over a month. On a typical race weekend, I'm filling the motorhome, filling gas cans, buying a bag of ice. People from all over the region will be intermingling at various points along the way.
It seems that the liability could be enormous, and a bigger threat to the track's future than just remaining closed under federal or state guidelines. |
