It's never good to be on the wrong side of the law if someone wants to get picky, but I'd be surprised if this issue is ever raised for a car that does not require SFI wheels.

How many inspectors know which wheels should have an SFI sticker?

The Racers in Rental Cars Podcast discussed this in detail this week with Josh Hamming from Weld. SFI 15.3 and 15.4 are the only wheels that have to be recertified and those specs are for alcohol and nitro cars (maybe Pro Mod too).

We don't have anything to worry about in Stock and Super Stock.

It applies to some classes in Comp Eliminator too.

I am all for safe racing! In 30+ years racing I have seen and experienced WAY more FRONT lightweight wheel failure than rear wheels. Although a car running 7’$ on a 9 inch tire is kinda spooky to me, particularly if chasing down a 15 second car on the top end. But that just me... There may be other things, that could be topping the Safty list. I

So happy to see this. I was sitting here thinking if I try to race next year, I would have to buy new wheels too. Thank you!!

For S/SS, this can of worms is better left unopened.

I just watched the factory stock finals on tv at charlotte. Drew skillmans mustang as it crossed the finish line looked like it had the biggest 9 in tire or widest rim on a 9 in tire I've ever seen. Is this the way they get them to stay hooked up?

CLASS, MPH, or ET does NOT matter.

(As it states: --- In ALL other categories ---- )

Below is directly from NHRA:

************************************************** ***********************

In all other categories, effective January 1, 2020:

(a) any rear wheels originally certified as meeting SFI Spec 15.1 must bear a wheel conformance label indicating compliance with SFI Specification 15.1 properly affixed to each wheel per the specification;

(b) any rear wheels originally certified as meeting SFI Spec 15.3 must bear a wheel conformance label indicating compliance with SFI Specification 15.3 properly affixed to each wheel per the specification (including re-certification if applicable); and

(c) any rear wheels originally certified as meeting SFI Spec 15.4 must bear a wheel conformance label indicating compliance with SFI Specification 15.4 properly affixed to each wheel per the specification (including re-certification if applicable).

************************************************** **********************

If your wheels had SFI stickers on them when NEW they better have them on come January 1st.

Don't want anyone getting bounced because they thought the rule didn't apply to them.
It says -- ALL OTHER CATEGORIES --.
