I noticed that the vast majority of the "fans" were always headed in the opposite direction that I was. When Stock Eliminator was running, I was in the stands, and the "fans" were in line for another overpriced urine-colored semi-fermented light "beer" at the concession stands. When Top Fuel was running, they were in the stands, fat and semi-drunk, wearing the fan T-shirts they'd purchased from the Top Fuel teams...and I went to go take a leak. In between, I was appalled at the conversations I overheard. Lemmings, who praise the name of every top-ranked corporate Top Fuel driver, but have no idea what the stoichiometric ratio for nitromethane is. Has NHRA drag racing devolved into modern-day NASCAR, where the "fans" are general-admission cattle, completely ignorant of the technical aspects of sanctioned drag racing, and are simply "consumers" that subsist on spoon-fed topical information peripheral to the actual racing? |

Is Jerry going to inducted this year?

Re: Teachers pet picture
Looking back several years I appreciate the great stock racers like Jerry. How many of us are old enough to remember him in the staging lanes doing jumping jacks. Or watching him leave the starting line with his head above the dash and him going back into the seat on his leave. Do you remember him breaking his front seat? The person that buys his car is certainly getting a piece of stocker history Barry

Re: Teachers pet picture
I had just turned 14 in Aug before the 64 Plyms came out. I thought the 63 was the best looking untill I saw the 64, fell I love right then and my first street car (a 64 hardtop) was in 68. Paid $75 on my uncles wholesale lot (had 60,000 miles). Since then I've had 5 more, latest a 64 Savoy post that I'm doing up like the race Hemi lightweight. Tubbed, moly cage and a 4-speed. To this day, IMO, it's still the best looking car Chrysler ever made. I never got to see Jerrys car live, but I devoured every magazine article on both his cars back then.
