Re: Fake battery, dq or not
Ok how about this crazy scenario, you have 2 batteries and run a class that you can't get to the minimum cause you are out of shape (heavy). You have a heads up and take the rear battery out, is that legal???? You don't have to have 2 batteries but if you have one it has to be up front? You can only make minimum weight for that class with one battery in the front. Survey says....

Re: Fake battery, dq or not
Yes, you may take the REAR battery out. Nowhere does it say you must have a rear battery unless it is there from the factory. Jim

Maybe they should have stopped by a quality automotive shop and had everything checked out.

This is a car I own I gave this car a few years ago to a racer to drive and run for me as I had another I was racing This is my fault and not the driver who had the car as I never told him about the front battery it is sad that nhra picks who they kick But in the end Its the nhra play ground and they can do what they want With all the things allowed they choose something this foolish to worry about….. So again I am sorry to the racer he is a great guy and i should of told him |
Re: Fake battery, dq or not
At Englishtown tech inspector checked our front battery which was Ok. He told me that the word had been put out awhile back about these batteries. He said if you show up with one before the race (in tech) or during the race and they find it you are done. Now this was a national event I don't know what will happen at a divisional although it should be the same penalty.

Re: Fake battery, dq or not
That fake battery deal has been around a very long time. The '69 Nova Stocker I bought and raced 20 years ago had one in it. I removed it and the trunk battery. Put a lightweight battery up front. I got DQ'ed once for improperly secured ballast in the trunk. Had weight in there not in a box as required. Long stupid story how that happened but it got me thrown out after winning rd 1 at a National event. I apologized and took my punishment and moved on. Added a second weight box after that one. Then sold the car. Rules are rules and should be enforced equally and at all events.
