Think Kenny was 70 or 71. I started working Div. II tech in 70 and the first time I met Kenny was to certify the car for the record. I moved to Fayetteville in Jan of 73 and already knew Kenny. Again, working with an old mind.
Think old cars were in stock thru 71. 72-73 was a cutoff at 63, 74-75 was cutoff at 65 and 76 went back to 60.
Maurice, I will try to get in touch with Kenny and see what he remembers.

Stewart, A/Stock was 7 lbs in 71..No Pontiac ever made that.

In 1972 Truman ran A stock with his Firebird, with the Ram 2 combo. He also held a record in 72 for A I believe.

Todd ,72 was new "pure stock" rules.
A was I think 9 lbs .... Apples and oranges, but thanks.
(Never saw Truman in higher than B/Stock .Remember, you couldn't move up or down then.
You had to run at the actual shipping weight)

Mark
You are correct. A was 9.0 in 72. I think his car was a "pure " stock car. I know he had his M/S Chevy in 74 when he was r/u at the Summers. Must have been 72 on the Goat.

The last A/S record prior to 1972 was set by Mazzotta & LeBrun 66 corvette on 5/71 : 11.17 123.79 (Dec 31, 71 Dragster)

Maurice,
I ran A/S in 1970 with my 1967 Camaro 396 375hp car. I can tell you this much, we won A/S at the Winternationals that year running only 12.40's at Pomona but got to the 3rd round in eliminations when a pushrod broke running against Kieth Berg's 18 second Olds with two full 5 bulb trees as a handicap... lol Still have the trophy, I think Linda Vaughn gave me, or maybe that part was in my dreams..... That was nowhere near the record, though. Even at Mission, the best I recall from that car was 11.98, still not super competitive when we had to handicap off the records. Interestingly, in 1971 to be more competitive, we switched the engine into a 1967 Camaro convertible which fitted at the top of C/S and that car ran 11.92.
Someone must have a copy of National Dragster from that race, I'd sure like to get that issue for my collection, never thought to save all that stuff back in the day...

Grant…Great response, didn't know you were involved that far back. Do you remember "The Fugitive" 68 Camaro? MB.
