Bracket racing, same track, same weekend, same everything... ran out of Torco and had to buy some Sunoco at the track. As it started getting worked into the system, it was slowing down a little every run, and then leveled off at about .05 slower.
Again, a lot of it has to do with how you're jetted. The fuel molecules are of different size, which changes your mixture. Several years ago, we went from Sunoco Purple to Torco Purple, on a really bad air day. Car slowed up .05 (1/4 mile). At the time, I thought the fuel didn't make as much power. The next year, we tried it again in good air, and the car ran faster than it ever had before. You may need to be as much as two jet sizes different between the Sunoco and Torco to make the best use of each. I was surprised to find a little ET in Torco blue over Torco purple as well. I always thought that the lower the octane the better (to a point). Must be something in the Torco Blue that's making power...
