NO BOXES!

Delay boxes are a joke. Lets see one of them drive a real stick car! What a disgrace these gizmos have created. I miss those old modified Corvettes!!!........now more than ever!

If some of the guys are using the delay switches, tricked out transmissions, CO-2 transbrakes and every other gizmo they can why not use a $299.00 delay box and put an end to the cheating?

It's that or a "spec" button and wiring. That is the option that is best in my opinion. It was time to end the $349.00 transbrake switches and 6" travel switches that are flat-out dangerous if your sleeve catches it while you are in low gear....that would be ugly, locking the transbrake at the top of wheelie..

Just an old geezer who still gets to the strip every week.

There will be no delay boxes in Super Stock at any of my Stock /Super Stock combo races, for obvious reasons.

easy way to eliminate the problem is to stop the use of trans brakes, two steps etc.we have a two step in our car, but would no problem removing it.

I think this is just like the deal on S/S heads a few years ago,,,,,,,can't POLICE it so let them go......... Same thing on this can't POLICE (or don't want to) so let it go.. Just my 2 cents.............. For whatever it is worth.

Stan - that's what worries me. You usually don't see NHRA interest in something like this unless it's just like you say.....
Which makes me wonder - who in the hell is using a delay box in SS.
If this ain't a can o' worms I didn't want to know about.

I miss my tranny brake....

If they are allowed will stick cars get to use a button release?

Stan Perry 04-20-2007 04:53 PM

I have had a few phone calls since I posted this yesterday,,,,,,, I am Against DELAY boxes. I'm just know how the system is....... I think if you let delay boxes go just look at the can of worms that is opening (Remember the MATTY BOX) If NHRA cant police delay boxes how are they going to police all the thing that are out there if they don't know what they are looking for anyway.... Think about this,,, how many S/S and COMP racers have Never used a delay box ,,,some haven't ever turned loose of a trans brake... All of the racers who have used delay boxes will get better while the rest is learning. I wish we would do away with all the Buttons, two steps, air shifters, electric shifters and just go back to Racing like it is suppose to be ( BUT WILL NEVER HAPPEN ) Again this is just my 2 cents worth..............
