My never completed IHRA crate motor car.

Not sure if it would pass muster, but might be able to graft a 78 doghouse onto it. Make no mistake it's a project car. Have a bunch of stuff that would go with it. Just throwing this out here. It needs to go. The front wheels and tires do not go with the car, already been put to an alternate use.

Just change the front nose piece and the tail lights and rear bumper cover to 77-78 pieces.

Mark,

I know this isn't the sales forum. If someone wanted a project to start one of these cars. I have one. Hope I don't get banned for advertising here! Don't want to hijack the thread either.

I will call you sometime this week.

Is one of these heads better than the others? 354434, 376450, 462614

I believe the 462614 is a misprint and is supposed to be 462624. As for which one is better between the 624 and the 450, that is a question you should ask your cylinder head supplier of choice. I cannot comment on the 354434 as I have never looked at them. The 624 would be easier/cheaper than the 450 but not necessarily better.

If you do not have a car yet look at the same engine in the 76-77 F body , Natural T/SA cars

Very good combo and it can make T and U in the right Camaro or Nova.

If you choose a 75-79 Nova, make sure you get a good body to start with. Very few reproduction parts for these cars (like a radiator support, trunk lid, door skins) so its boneyard/ebay/craigslist only. Not a lot of them in the boneyards. I found out the hard way. Camaro may be a lot easier in this regard.

No car yet but I've been keeping an eye out for parts and possible cars. There is a 78 Malibu for sale locally that I am going to have a look at...would be natural Q car I think.

I figured there might be a misprint for the heads. How would I go about checking and/or getting that corrected?

Thanks for the replies.

You may be right but I did just find this on the interweb:

462614.....77-79...305..........60cc chamber
462624.....75-86...350/400......76cc chamber, 1.72/1.5, 1.94/1.5 or 2.02/1.6 valves

614 might be legit.

Is there any one who runs the 305/145/180 engine who can weigh in?

I just pulled a complete 305 core out of a 77 Malibu and it as fare as I can tell its never been apart,it has the 614 heads on it.I am pretty green and on a learning curve with all this stock eliminator stuff .I was looking at the 301/135/150 combo in a Firebird but have been talked out of it in favor of the 305
