The decision was made to end advertising for spectators as it was realized only the racers would understand the dial in format.
Why do people keep propagating this myth?!? FOOTBALL is more difficult to understand than bracket racing. If you didn't explain football to someone who'd never seen it before, it would take them awhile to figure out that sport, too. The announcer has a duty and obligation to explain to fans what they are seeing. I have personally explained on-track action to fans, and most not only 'get it', they also enjoy it. People aren't stupid.

If you don't advertise and don't inform, then yes, you are more assuredly going to get a small number of spectators who likely don't know what they're watching. Promoters are in control, and will reap what they sow.

I see a race like "Spring Fling" or other big $ bracket races with car counts as large or larger than LODRS and can finish multiple races. The problem is most NHRA class racers spend so much time doing nothing and taking 20 min to get to the lanes for no reason. Anything can be done if you put your mind to it!...and move your a##.

Waiting back to see what everyone else is running/dialing becomes a wash after 5-6 pairs, close the lanes once and see how fast racers cry and start moving quicker.
