Re: Ideas to Build a new Drag Strip
Norwalk does have alot of the items you've mentioned.....a few years back I believe Jr. was attempting to purchase the Huron County airport to create a Motorsports Business Park but might have gotten shot down by the FAA.
A couple years ago George Bryce was doing the same type of setup down in Georgia, not sure where that stands anymore. One thing you forgot.......a Starbucks, hell I don't care for it that much but I'd sure rather pay for that coffee than get what usually is available at a drag strip and it's about the same damn cost. |
Re: Ideas to Build a new Drag Strip
Showers and bathrooms with plumbing.
Roving security guards with big guns! |

Re: Ideas to Build a new Drag Strip
Don great thread, I enjoyed your great zest for investment. The first thing to find would be a loving city council with the Mayor in your back pocket(not an unobtainable goal, Detroit would be a good place to start or in my own backyard Montreal). Like they say, location, location an Indian Reserve would be my first choice as they're quite progressive in the entertainment and gambling field. My first requirement of any new track would be a quality Rest area with proper showers(men and woman) on a par of many Flying J's were they clean the showers after every person using it, I wouldn't have any problems paying extra for($5) wouldn't break the bank for any promoter.Noise and hotels do not go hand in hand.lol Great ideal, keep them coming. Re: Ideas to Build a new Drag Strip
Having the grandstands within eyesight of the track should be included. I was introduced to drag racing at the old San Gabriel track and being close to the action made it much more exciting for the spectators. The closest thing to it we have in div 6 is Spokane, much better than having to use binoculars to see the action.
