I've got a big block Stocker and had two sets of slicks, one bias ply and the other radial. I picked up .10-.12 every time I backed-to-back them, and that was nearly 20 years ago.

radials slicks back in '93, I don't think so! Maybe you were a tenth quicker with a slow "big block" olds back when it was running in the 12's but NOT with a real big block launching a nearly 2 ton ride...

Don't be so quick to reply. You can race a long time and not know everything. Why you would doubt Jim Kaekel is a mystery to anyone that has seen him race for decades in division 3 with a stocker. I get it; your old bracket car was cool! I had a poster of it. It does not make Jim wrong.

Comparing your bracket car to an actual STOCKER is meaningless...... I've never used the "small tire" however big or small block on a big tire it's .08 to .12 in almost every case. This may or may not be due to the physical size of the tire I don't know. Oh and James he does indeed know everything just ask him.

I was told long ago by a guy at ATI, the bracket cars don't get the same converters we do. Those don't "hit" as hard due to the poorer track conditions they often encounter.
Ditto the "10.5" shoot out" cars. Apples & oranges.

With my little 3240 lb, 350" SS car, radials were usually almost two 10ths quicker before I had it back-halved. 10.5" tires back then. have not tried bigger bias tires yet. Can't spin these suckers.

It was '96 to be exact that I first used radials. I remember the exact year because I got a set so that I could get into the US Nationals that year. It worked and with a little luck that weekend, I made it to the final round. They had been around at least a year or two at the time.

and your olds ran what 60 foot/ET 17 years ago?

Back to the facts and the truth, I've done the back to back to back and never ran close to a tenth quicker with BBC power under the hood and made over 3000 passes on Hoosier Radial slicks to date and counting. Been 1.28 60 foot at 3880 lbs. on the small tire and 1.17 60 foot at 3144 lbs. on the big tire both launching off the footbrake and with ATI converters too!:p

Both legal class cars except the engines under the stock hoods!

I think the only all knowing self proclaimed expert would be you?

Might ask ATI if you have the same converter they would sell you for a Stock or Super Stock?
They do make a lot of bracket converters too.
