It was in a little berg called Warden, just east of Moses Lake. The fun part was having to beat the spray plane to the next field. Could be twenty miles or more. Learned how to drive real fast on gravel roads. The owner said he would pay any tickets. Luckily I didn't get to test that.

I would stand in the field with the flags held out, when he got lined up on me he would wiggle his wings and I would have to take 23 of the fastest steps I'd ever take to get ready for the next pass. If he was spraying a spud field and wasn't picking up some vines with his wheels he thought he was to high off the ground. I got sprayed with all kinds of crap. Might be why agent orange didn't bother me in nam. Might also be the reason I don't have much hair.

Used to have a guy spray our soybeans. If his wheels werent turning my old man would complain he was waisting spray. There were pines at the end of each row also.

hi back in the old days, they wheel marked the field as they flew over it. that way , they knew where last pass was. this was done without flagmen, esp in spraying peas with parithion. they did fly very close to the ground anyway. I would say, they were very good pilots, to that at 100 MPH!!!
