Hi, I dont know. They never got the alum. The car had a steel nose when they got it. I learned alot more about the car while I was searching for it. You would have to ask Jerry.I had alot of help trying to locate it. Marco is a good source for info as well....I will load up some pics if you guys are interested..Tom

Built and maintained by Joe Simon and me Rich Biebel...
Engine from T/K, Ralph Truppi and Tommy Kling
Driven for the record run and backup by Ray Allen just to reduce the chances of any driver error.
We were down to the last opportunity of the year to get the record and decided to ask Ray to drive it and he did.
The car was sold to Rich Decola and Paul Delvecchio and in this picture it was on their ramp truck in the gas station I worked at for years.......and built and maintained the car there as well....

We ran faster than the ET record and much faster than the MPH record......and the car ran more than 2 tenths faster than the existing record on it's third pass.

It was previously run as a Super Stocker.....and owned by Andy Spaziani and run with a 396/375 and ran very well in SS/E

Rich Decola held the SS/J record with it......and I watched him make some runs with it in SS trim and was amazed at how much faster it was with a cam and intake change.....11.40's and that was with a flat tappet cam I think and 9 or 10 inch tires.....

Our biggest disappointment was not qualifying at the 1970 SummerNationals at York and also missing the field at E-Town the following year.......

Today most everyone gets to race eliminations.......Thats not how it was in the old days......and it was heartbreaking to work so hard and not get a chance to race the eliminator.....We suffered that fate everytime we ran a National event with 2 different cars......and it was the main reason I quit and did not race a car for about 10 years.......

Rich what ever happen to the nova after you sold it to Rich and Paul.

Here is a pic of the car in 1988 or 1989
Don Owens who was partners with Tom ,located the car in 1988-89 and bought it.Don got a Alum. nose with the car but I do not think it was the orig alum.Don sold the car to some one in NJ with out the Alum.

Dennis..

Rich Decola raced it for a number of years but I have no idea what happened to the car after about the mid 70's...

I saw Rich a few years ago up at Lebanon Valley....He was racing a mid 80's Camaro....

He moved to NC I think....

Paul Delvecchio passed a long time ago....I saw him at many races and was sad to learn he became ill and passed....
I think he crewed with Joe Santangelo Sr. when he raced Comp.....but I am a little vague on that memory....

All correct for the most part.
After we built the 66 HT 327/275 Chevy II and re-set the record with it,
Richie decided to put a Powerglide in his car. Sometime after ,it got painted all white, and Richie lent it to Joe Kenney, who took it out to the Winternationals one year.
After that Joe and Richie both got into 65 Chevelles with the 327 /250 combo.
The 68 car was sold to someone in Ct. or NY I think.
It was just a white Chevy II , and basically unrecognizable from it's earlier glory.
I'll have to ask Richie about it next time.

Mark....I was pretty sure I saw it after it was repainted white but thought I might have not had the color right.
The original paint was kind of a sore spot with me.....
I wanted some Z/28 type panels painted on the original factory color....Teal Blue.
After a trip to a local painter who must have inhaled too many paint fumes it had colors all over it.
I fixed some of the mess he made by covering some of what he messed up and shot some clear on it....
.My buddy called it Little Multi-Color....
Tony Feil who was known for his sharp tongue.....said...."Who spit-up on your car" when he saw it.......thanks Tony....

Rich D. had an earlier Nova for a while too. SS/JA 327

He had one unique tow vehivle at one time too I think...
A Checker airport limo car......8 doors....

When I worked at Crow's Head Shop we did heads for him as well as Joe Santangelo.....and many, others....

Joe Kenney was a fun guy....and we hung out at the beer stand at Sanair in 1970....Only track I was ever at that had one.....and they had a bar in the tower....
