Rob,
I have not had the same luck with the Craftsman Alum jack. I found out the hard way that the same warranty for hand tools does not apply to their floor jack. Just past having for a year and it stopped lifting 100% of max height. Not sure if it is made anymore, but supposedly not rebuildable. This is the one I have.

Thats not the one I have. I will see if I can figure out how to post a picture

Rob,
I am glad, My wife got it for me for Christmas a few years ago, and now it looks like the Harbor Freight Aluminum ones are made better, than that expensive POS.

As for the Jack that I use at the track, it is the Harbor Freight 1.5 ton with a 3/4" piece of plywood with side rails to not allow the jack to roll off the plywood when not on solid ground, The plywood is not much bigger than the jack. Also use the plywood to place jack stands on, to lift the rear of car in the trailer. This prevents the jack stands from damaging the coin floor. Multipurpose tool!

Have the HF 2 ton lightweight which is OK but they have a 3 ton which looks much more well designed.

This motorcycle jack is great for transmissions when working with jack stands on the floor!!!

Do the HF aliminium jack ,harder to pump than more common steel jack?

Re: Best floor jacks

Thank you everybody for your input, I chose the HF 2 ton jack. It is bigger than my non working Craftsman 3 ton jack, but lighter. The two individual front wheels make it easy to turn vs the single roller bar version of the HF 3 ton.

Do not like the sensitiveness of it though, will not allow you to lower with very small increments or minor bleed. Wants to let go quickly as in it's ability to raise quickly.

Again, thanks everyone.
