I don't know Greg.
The carb replacement on the '70 is good since the Ford's have had it for a replacement for the 4300 for years.... the rest is someone playing the AMC version of Caroll Shelby.
The '68-'69 T/A Javelins also ran the crossram with 2 Holley 600's so I don't know where the Holley 780 comes from on the '68-'69 cars, especially since the hp rating was pretty close with the AFB carb.

Nice videos,, Garrett. The motor sounds great,, launches well,,, good luck and have fun getting it sorted out. Its a great looking car, and I like how you did your gauges and saved the original dash,,, take care.

As if the motor hp wasn't already low on these cars now this. Hopefully the AMC racers run fast so they can get some HP on their combos.

greg same as an individual asking for a combo to be put into the books (with an obviuos HP error) after 25 years and it being granted with little documentation...and look how it effected the class / eliminator qaulifying sheet / ladder sheet and #1 qualifier money....

seriously i just wonder what you could get apporved with a few letters... hell i know a 2.5 second under truck

time to find somewhere else to race this is insanity.

I have a question, I am not a racer just a fan. Is Nhra adding parts making it cheaper or just making things more complicated?

I still have all the factory parts books from '66 thru '76, including the group19 sections, which were only 4 pages....ALL group 19 parts were over the counter, dealer,or owner installed only.
The Edelbrock R4B intake is listed p/n 4488409 and had factory part numbers cast on them for both '69-'69&'70&up engines.
The group19 cam to my knowlege, and I installed quite a few of them, had .477" lift.
The group19 Holley carb,p/n 4885730 was actually a Holley 950cfm 3 bbl,list 3916.
Just imagine if that carb was approved instead of the 780 !
Also available were 4bolt main blocks, and even a 8 quart oil pan P/N 4485741.
While I'd love to see what can be done with these new parts, and I'm really glad to see the 4300 Motorcraft carb superceeded, only the surface was scratched with regards to potential without these parts.

Absolutely freaking amazing, there are what? maybe half a dozen nashes that can take advantage of these parts? For the better part of ten years I have been trying to get a legitimate Autolite to Holley FoMoCo carb supercession approved year after year DENIED at every juncture by every official. So why would NHRA all of the sudden embrace a dead car company? Who next? Studebaker? I wonder ifBeth's uncle Leonard still has that old Avanti tucked away in his barn?

I know that in 1969 the cross ram manifold with 2 holleys and the off road cam was available on the Z28 from the factory in the trunk and yet that has never been legal. Where does all this bs come from?

Yeah geez Greg.Poor old Chevrolet is getting a real screwing. They've never gotten bone tossed out to them over the years by those mean old NHRA baboons.Call in the lawyers.
