I can't imagine any of the V-8 Drag Paks wasting their time, not even David Barton. Too bad, it would be a great way to race but no one has a chance with a V-8 DP. 3,000 lbs ready to race? Maybe if Barton loses 200 lbs which I don't think would leave him with much, lol. Oh well, I'll still watch the supercharged cars battle it out.

It will be a two horse race at best, if Copos can get there in time.

Maybe when they do start running, and they start kicking the Fords butts, the NHRA will have to change some rules, and find another way to keep Ford on top.

But as long as Mopars are naturally asipirated, and the COPOS and FORDS are supercharged, it would be hard to think that the Mopars could be competetitive.

40 years ago, Mopars dominated and were "legislated" out. Now, by allowing blowers in Stock, but not allowing them on Mopars, the NHRA is essentially doing it all over again.

Oh well.... Y'all have fun out there....

Ron, you could run a 5sp with that V10.
Mr. Jeff keep that beer cold, I'll be there to watch this show.

2nd I would like to see this happen at more events. Although Indy is my home track I'd still like to see it branch out and even go divisional.

3rd I think some of you don't realize weather/elevation really affects the blower cars also. It's not like a turbo car that will simply spin the turbine faster or slower until it reaches the desired boost level dictated by the waste gate. Now if we could change pulleys based on weather/altitude change........... The positive displacement blower draws in a fixed amount of air per engine revoulution and is very sensitive to inlet restriction and air quality. It can only compress the air that it draws in. Less air in means less air that can be compressed. A supercharged car can lose easily 40+HP(low ball figure) because of IATs telling the computer to yank timing over a certain temp at any point of a run. We have our own issues on this side of the fence also. It's not all just sunshine and lollipops. [QUOTE]

That IAT pulling timing is only as much as your tuner wants it to be. It's a table that could be zeroed out if desired. From the factory they are always more aggressive pulling more timing than needed for race fuel.
Blown cars are effected by weather, but less than NA engines.

So in conclusion. I'm excited about the heads up aspect of it and would like to see more of the heads up action take place in the future. See everyone in Indy.

Seeing as the blower cars went as quick as 5.82 at 119 mph at 3550 lbs in Bristol, I think it's obvious they are not affected nearly as much as N/A cars are by weather/elevation.

Actually, the supercharged cars were running at 3600 pounds at Bristol. The weights revised after Houston to the following:

Effective on April 11, 2012, the new weight restrictions are:

3150 lbs: All vehicles using a naturally-aspirated V8 engine under 400 cubic inches
(Change: 100 pounds removed)
3250 lbs: All vehicles using a naturally-aspirated V8 engine over 399 cubic inches
(Change: New classification)
3350 lbs: All vehicles using a naturally-aspirated engine with more than eight cylinders
(Change: 50 pounds removed)
3600 lbs: All vehicles using a supercharged or turbocharged engine
(Change: 50 pounds added)

If I could afford a 5 speed manual conversion - I would use the money to get there with my 2 speed

We would not be uncompetetive but I guess the age old money issue will keep us from finding out just how competivite our V10 would be

We have a few tricks up our sleeve which we will not unveil until Somona - after the HP hit in July

If this is just a special eliminator for Indy with adjusted cars from select classes why do they need an index -its flat out- and how can cars get light and then correct weight for full stock eliminator without major rule bending or seperate rules for the special eliminator
