Re: Sometimes ya get what ya wish for !!
I personally think this is great and should be the way it is at all class races. It will sure cut down on a lot of the BS that currently goes on. Not racing now but can remember some real classics from years past.

Re: Sometimes ya get what ya wish for !!
Sorry Scott (and others)
It won't cut down on any games..... Sportsman ladder means a guy that shuts off in qualifying goes to the bottom of the ladder (thus... doesn't have to run the number one qualifier). I believe it'll double the games! The poor dude in the middle of the pack gets to be the lamb, forced to run the fast guy rd 1 of class. Games will be played to NOT be in the middle.... Random pairing (cards, etc.) was not a problem, but Bernie said it best...... "Sometimes ya get what ya wish for !!" |
Re: Sometimes ya get what ya wish for !!
Thanks Thomas,
Ya know guys if it smells like poop, looks like poop, don't step in it or taste it to find out for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an over exaggerated situation this has turned into!! Yeah, I've been all over this country racing class for a couple of decades and some (*****) want it their way, i.e. fast guy for the bye, faster guy with a pair wants lane choice, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH !!! I'm in a fairly populated class, ( the more ya have, the more opinions ya have) but what's been a well accepted program the last few years is the card pull. Every competitor goes up for 1st. round on 'kill', (if they wish), sometimes ya need to be in that mode and sometimes ya don't, depending on the draw. That in it's self gives a guy a chance to try. Lane choice is the common 'flip O the coin'. It's a great situation for a slower car to go a few rounds and get the 'BUG' again. What I've been involved in lately has been more fun than a structured situation and way more interesting for the following rounds. Some of the slower guys (on paper) have a chance now and end up coming up with a 'hop up setup' for the next round where they normally wouldn't do that. I reckon that if they are more involved, it's a GOOD thing!! Class racing is 'WAY TOO COOL'. You and I and NHRA understand this. Be careful what ya wish for !!!!! I reckon next year will be a little better with some good ideas and plans, however, the manufactures are the main supporters and DON'T forget that. NHRA, also, wants it to be good for every one involved, so please show some support for a program that was on life support a year ago. Unfortunately, it'll be what we have with a few new ideas for a while, keep hoping!!!!!!!!!! ELECTIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Sometimes ya get what ya wish for !!
I never saw any problems like it was. Everybody friendly and civil. Usually flipped coins or said "you just want to pair up like we are in line?". It will work out OK however they do it. Just more work for the workers in the tower.
Better get my butt up, and go check my valves. Another nice day in BG. |
Re: Sometimes ya get what ya wish for !!
I think I like it better, the old way had games too.. at least now it seems to be controlled on paper. I know, I know.. I have one heads up race per season so I really have no input here.
On a side note, since class has now become this formal with ladder pairings, no more solo runs, yet still a pretty weak payout for Indy (I thought it was going to be higher since there is no contingency at the other events and no more solo runs all together) , should class winners automatically make the show? I say without a doubt. |
