They will be operating off of IHRA rules. Also a ladder will not be established untill atleast the by-back round has been completed. Looks like the NHRA cars just got your .3 back for this one. My understanding is that class winners will be awarded based on the quailifying sheet, don't know what the prize for class is though. Here's a chance to give what you like a shot in the arm, and send a message!

It's a shame that the IHRA folks putting on this race don't really have a clue about stock and super stock. Buybacks and random pairings. They don't have this crap at their regular races. Why now? This may please the bracket racers that have a stocker but a lot of the NHRA regulars i fear will be missing. Even at our combo races in BG we have a ladder and heads up races. I hope they do well with the race. I have been very supportive to IHRA this year and plan on attending all eight of the d3 races, but these are the kinds of gimmicks that I fell will keep a lot of NHRA racers away.

X's 2 but Im thinking it has more to do with Royce Miller (track owner) than IHRA. Thats just my opinion as he is afraid the car count wont support the purse. He dosent know squat about stock or S/S and is an old S/C racer. Of course IHRA management needs to come a long way also.

OK, so this race isn't perfect! Name one format that everyone can agree on! It's still an excellent opportunity for all of us to support a sanctioning body that has continually tried to make a difference. Royce Miller is a very good businessman, and he's well aware that he can't stay in business by loosing money. Let's show him and everyone else that we really do care about the future of Stock and Super Stock class racing! We have a real chance to make a success of this, and those things that don't work can be fixed for the next time.

Just my two cents!

Lew

True.....Im not crazy about buy backs at any kind of race (bracket or other wise) but MIR is a great track and the Millers try very hard to have a great show and they are honest. Does it really matter who you run first round anyway so why worry about random pairings in the first round? The new DP's and Mustangs run the FI class for you guys in the old cars so a heads up isnt a worry in this deal. The track has always hooked like it has teeth on the starting line and is a class act race track. .

Re: Spotsman Spectacular @ MIR coming soon

My random ramblings on this event.

Greg, are you sure about the no "heads up" in S/SS?
I think that heads up applies.
You should read the flier.
On the buy backs, it doesn't really bother me much. I figure if I beat the guy/gal once I can do it again.

What else really doesn't help is that it is scheduled on top of the Joliet Nationals/Jegs All Stars.
Already snubbed northern IHRA racers forced to choose will probably stay away.
Just look at the Joliet entry list in all the classes. Lot's of IHRA regulars.
I have a IHRA gold card and we are going to Joliet.
If it was not on top of Joliet we would definately be coming with all 3 cars.

On the class run offs, that is a dead issue with IHRA.
I begged, pleaded, and even demanded of Mike Baker that we race for class and he flat won't change his mind. Says there are not enough cars showing up to warrant the time.
My thoughts are that policy certainly will not encourage any more entrants.

I applaud MIR and IHRA for trying so hard to put together such a cool event for the sportsman racer and wish everyone tremendous success.
I only wish that there was a bit more thought and planning put into the date.
Joliet is a very popular event with the sportsman racers. Right up there with Indy and Norwalk.
