Re: Ahfs
Well, if the only reason they were "illegal" was because of the wrong year grill, I really wouldn't have much to complain about, would I?
I believe there is a lot more to this story. When was the last time you heard of somebody being thrown out for the wrong body parts? I think it might have been just an excuse to throw them out for what happened earlier with the weight and class "mix up." -Toby |

Re: Ahfs
Jack, the seat was correct in the Byrd cage, the body man got the car way to "slick".

Re: Ahfs
We arrived and teched both of our stockers and my son's new Super/Stocker on Thursday afternoon. We knew that I had to be at Hospital for testing all morning on Friday and that I could not be at track and participate.
We planned to leave our stuff at track for Nationals plus Mopars at the Strip, and the truck was only entered at Mopar in Truck Class (Not Stock/SuperStock). It was not entered at either NHRA race. When I arrived at track Friday afternoon, My son and Randy had teched and raced the truck. This was a last minute decision as Randy's local race in Sac. appeared to be Rained out allowing him to stay. Randy and any of my friends new or old............................................... ................................ are ALWAY welcome to use anything I own. In fact.......Most anyone on this forum would be welcome to use one of my stockers and several have taken me up on the offer which was cheerfully given. A lot of you may remember that I drove all night home and back to bring a car for someone to drive at 2010 Finals. However, much to my dismay, when I arrived at the track I found the truck on the ladder as the wrong year(81 Dodge) and weight (a clerical and math mistake) not having left the spec. sheets in the trailer for us to refer........ I immediately went to the Division Trailer and informed Mike Rice of the problem. He told me to go see Pat the Division Tech director and explained the problem. I asked him to disqualify the truck and take it off the ladder. He agreed but said the run had to be put into system and average. I did not and still do not have a problem (not that I would have a input anyway) with that as long as I did not get the 81 Trucks unfairly factored...and apparently it did not affect them. I am the owner of the truck.....not my son or Randy. It is ENTIRELY my responsibility to have the right tech information available and in place on the tech cards. I should be at tech every time or not come to the race! In the future I will have a tech card permanently taped to Roll Bar on every vehicle we run as well as the ETI's. I sincerely am ashamed and truly sorry for all the confusion and chaos that I unintentionally created. I really just wanted to see my friends for yet another time and see my boy's first passes in Super Stock. In the end all I did was destroy our Truck Program and not damage anyone else's factors. There is a lot more to the story (It gets even worse yet!)..............but this will suffice for right now. Thank you, John Irving |
Re: Ahfs
John, you are a very classy guy. Very well said.

Re: Ahfs
In div. 3 you get torn down if you run fast enough for an instant hit.

Re: Ahfs
John, I was in no way casting a negative towards your operation. I've never met you but from reading on here I'm sure you deserve the respect most show you. By explaining the situation on here, which you didn't have to do shows the caliber of man you are. I was simply asking the question.... how does a combo get hit by a DQ'd entry, for what ever reason it was DQ'd. regards Joe
