Ed Wright, if that comment of yours is a swipe at me, then I'll consider the source. I'm out to embrace the IHRA, and if it means traveling 8-9hrs to do so, then that's fine with me. Hey, it's my money, and my choice of how I choose to spend it (besides, I feel it's an investment in my racing future, that will show IHRA, that I'm happy they're trying to come and play in our part of the country)! If you don't like it (even though you're closer than I am), then don't show up...I don't really care! I'll tell you one thing, it's a whole lot better paying $200 for a national event (with a chance to go to the world finals), than pay $305 to the monopoly and the enhancements that go with it!

As for you (the Deuces Wild) Ed, I hope you get your clutch together, and I'll look forward to seeing you there. I have some friends there who've been bugging me to come visit them for 10yrs., and now that IHRA is in Az., I'm going there to show my appreciation to them for trying to give us westcoast racers another venue by which to enjoy our passion for drag racing (that actually seems to appreciate us, by giving us more coverage in their magazine, and allows us to spend less money to participate in the races w/o the enhancements we've been blessed with by Glendora). It's nice to have options for a change! :)

Gary ed wasn't talking about you at all. Can't we all just get along. Geez

I know exactly what your talking about. We went to every IHRA race within 800 miles of us a couple years ago. Even made a cross country trip to the Rock and hung out in the cold rain for 4 days for no reason. I get it. If you want to race, you'll be there. Problem is that neither org is making it worth it finacially, and IHRA won't get the cars just because they put on a good race and they are nice to you. Its still a better value to save vacation time and money for NHRA races. I guess I'll be like most other racers and be drawn to the glory of NHRA untill IHRA makes it worth it for us to travel. If you asked me 2 years ago, I'd say that was the dumb move and you have to support IHRA if you want them to succeed. Well, Good word hasn't brought anyone over. Wonder if money would. We might just have a mental breakthrough with these $5,000 to win IHRA races coming up. To bad they arn't anywhere around us.

Hagen that is the silliest thing I've ever heard. I'd rather take a shot at one in 15 or 20 to win $6,000.00 with contengency than a one in 50 to 100 shot going to an NHRA race.

Yeah the chances of drawing a duck at an IHRA race is slimmer as one out of two is a hitter, but you still have to run those people at an NHRA race, just not as close together

I'd love to know where you get that $6000 from. How long has it been since you checked the list? I also noticed that you didn't show at Baton Rouge. Was it not worth your trip to come to my home track from San Antonio? Actions speak a little louder than your words Mr. Blackmon, and it seems you agree with me. You aint traveling for IHRA either. This isn’t about how easy the money is, maybe you, not me. Its about car count and getting people to support IHRA. So Yeah, You think its ridiculous, but I'd rather make my way through more cars for more money. That’s the glory of NHRA I was talking about. And its not 1 in 20-30 vs 1 in 50-100. Odds go by rounds, not cars. So its more like 1 in 5 vs 1 in 6-7. That aint much different odds where I come from. If you figure in these ducks you’re talking about, you ought to get 1 or 2 rounds for free.. right? How silly does it look now?

Hagen I'm going because SA is only an hour away. I have family there to stay with (no hotel bills). So it's cheaper for me to go there than Dallas or Houston. Just a money deal to me. Hope to see you at the next one. Ed

Yeah, that’s a good risk vs reward for you. I'm not saying racing IHRA is a dumb move. Not at all, in fact, I'm saying the opposite. I'm not going to miss a race in my back yard (Baton Rouge) just because its IHRA. But there are quite a few cars in the area that don't make it, yet travel further to NHRA races. That’s what I've been trying to get at. People aren’t going to go to IHRA races just because everyone says they put on a good time. You have to give them some incentive that will make them give it a shot. More reward will make people risk more (drive further, more fuel, time off, entry fees, and wear on your nice piece). Give us a bigger payout and its only a matter of time before anyone with business since realizes that its worth it to travel. More people realize this = more cars. You only need 10 more cars to add $2000 to the payout structure. Probably don't even need 10 when you count the crew member tickets. Who doesn't bring someone with them? I know we would be in SA if we thought we had some shot of recouping half the expenses to go, but we aren’t going to drive 7-8 hours, put wear on the cars, and end up spending $1,200 with the most we can hope for if we aren’t one of the 2 cars in the final is $150. A runner up would barely make that money back. I know we choose to have an expensive piece that we don't want to put a bunch of useless runs on, and a big F'n camper that gets terrible gas mileage, but so does 90% of the NHRA cars that don't go to IHRA races. They would rather save it for NHRA.

Hey Hagen, in answer to your question about the total payout, with contengency it ended up being $5500.00. To me it doesnt look too silly now, three rounds for that kind of payout, You can take the "glory" , I'll stick with the money !!!!

That was a unusually low car count in your back yard. Congrats. Something tells me you won't be at Baton Rouge this weekend were all that easy money is. I don't know who you think your fooling with claiming $5,500. I guess you can claim $1,100 more than Myron Piatek can even though he knows exactly how to claim the most money. We will all see if your claims are true in just a few days by going here. www.ihra.com/contingency/

I'll give you that it still a good payout considering the rounds, but that doesn't happen at 98% of IHRA races. I'm going to have to go more rounds this weekend than yall did for a lot less payout. So, load it up and drive the exact same distance you can't believe I didn't. You have two shots at claiming all that money. I'll see you there......

Well congrats to the Blackmons for taking there car out of mothballs and coming to the race and winning to boot. That had to be one of the strangest finals ever. Also congrats to Latino for his win in stock. I would like to thank RJ for all the help he has given me. I hope to see you guys at Dallas.
