I like the PT Cruiser where you can run a 230HP combo and claim 180. Can't go wrong there. At 28% underfactored, that means it will take 9 hits of 3.25 % to get it to the advertised HP, another 9 to get it to the right number. Could take years to reel this one in.

however-my 67 Fairlane could be set up with said 352, and would only have to make minimum weight of 2670 with this combo (doubt it could get that light, just sayin) to fit in GT/GA . CUrrently a 977 record set at Atco, in a cobalt/cavalier, I think. index of 10.90. said mustang in example would weigh the same (except I have a caged fairlane). Capt CJ, how much power does said 352 have to make to run 9.60s at 2670 lbs in a mustang or whatever?

Scott, you would have to use the shipping weight of your Fairlane and divide by 244 to find the "natural" class for GT. Then whatever class it falls in, go to the bottom. In a '67 Fairlane HT, 3317 divided by 244 gets you to 13.59, so you go to 13.5 x 249(al head) to get 3361 plus 170 for driver. You would weigh 3530 in GT/LA, or you could move up a class and weigh 3407 in GT/KA. The weight is based on the shipping weight of the body you use. That's why I said the Fox-body was good because it can get really light. Your deal really doesn't look too bad for GT. The engine makes a fair amount more power than a 390 Stocker engine. The weights and indexes are close for F/SA with a 390 and GT/MA with a 352. You could always remove up to 250 lbs from shipping weight and go the other way.............................
A Fox Mustang can weigh 2780 in GT/FA. It does make enough power to run numbers like you suggest, but not in a Fairlane.

John,

Have you ever seen an FE motor in fox chassis, not a pretty sight. I'm a header builder and I would not envy the poor guy who would have to attempt that project. Fairlanes look cooler anyway....

They dont exactly slip on a Fairlane FE in 10 minutes either

You are correct about the Fairlane FE motor fit. 'Slip Fit' is the correct term, you simply smear grease on the shock towers and 'slip' it in. The trick is finding someone with long skinny fingers to start the header bolts.
