Simple answer-Use what you can get away with in Tech. The water gets muddier with time and the fine points are lost.
Too many combinatiions to police and know as most dyed in the wool car guys gradually disappear and lack of true concern for detail remains.

I agree......Im not knocking anyone for it. I think the cars look better with the factory scoops and they usually dont work all that well anyway but I just wanted people to be aware of what was happening with some of this stuff. If NHRA buys it......then so be it. Its mostly a bracket race with rules anyway and since class and records is a joke now with the new FI and blower cars involved all we can hope for is to have fun and enjoy what it is until it is no more.

Guy's, A letter was submitted to the NHRA from Mopar Performance, stating the there were some 67 Dr Post cars both Dodge & Plymouth with the hood scoop ! So all are legal if they are 67, 2Dr Post Cars, in addition to the WO & RO Cars, which were 2DrHp!.......Later, John

Just like the Shelby letters......LOL. I was "there" during this time frame and I disagree about the hood scoops.

7.0 L (427/428) GT-E '68 Cougars with ram-air. There's even one in Car-Craft this month. Not that it's Gospel but I've seen it on more than one. Bill Howell had a few GT-E's but I don't know if they were Ram-air or not.

I would agree street hemi B body was no hood scoop.

And I also am under the impression scooped Fairlane's were SS only and a very popular dealer add on. But again, I'm no expert on Ford's!

The word "can't", as in "can not", utilizes an apostrophe.

John Dee & I ran a 67 Fairlane 4 door wagon, 427/410 single 4 barrel 4 speed car in the early 70s without the hood scoop in E/S in Div 2. To the best of my knowledge it was a SS option on the 2-4 motor only but I could be wrong. No one else ever ran a scoop on one back then either ,strictly the 427/425 hardtop SS cars. Richard Charboneau {sp} never ran one either. That was before special letters from Mfgrs existed though
