I'd hate to be the pour SOB that has to get out there and clean a lane while they're running T/F or F/C in the other two lanes.

I say that this will go over like a fart in church......The Pro Outcry hasn't been heard yet....

I don't watch much of the 'pro' drag racing anymore, but I am sure the crew chiefs and tuners are brimming with enthusiasm with this announcement.

These guys will be setting up cars in eliminations for lanes that they don't have any qualifying runs and data from.

Maybe they should rename this race the 'Tiresmoke Nationals'.

Sad to see a sport that I have loved since I was in first grade be reduced to a circus show.

Can you see 4 different ET's like in Stock or SuperStock ?
Image having to rub in 3 others, not just one guy ?? How the hell is this gonna work ??
4 Comp cars trying to save index ? Against who ?? Who you takin to the stripe ?? Now you have 3 different cars launching, so you get to try to keep your focus on your tree....

As per the press release: Sportsman wil still run in pairs of two, alternating the use of both pairs of lanes. The problem is you have to dial for four lanes instead of two. That
should be fun.

I do not care to watch the pro's at all but I'm going to make a point to check out this event on tv. Now if stock, superstock, s/c & s/g were running first to the finish 4 wide with break outs I think I'd have to go and race this thing.

By racing the Pros (4) at a time, they are reducing the number of runs to cover on ESPN,so this should open up some time for coverage of Stock and Super Stock on prime time TV.

Re: This is Interesting?

It is not unheard of for a 330mph Digger or Funny Car to climb the guardrail and end up, whole hog, on the other side. Remember Bernsten's guardrail-climbing accident about 7 or 8 years ago thaf almost killed him?

It seems to me that the potential for a 3-car pileup at this 4-lane strip is not a matter of "how", but rather "when" it will happen...
