Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
1) Pinks All Out has one primary rule: Run your stuff all out. ie., 1000'ers would be DQ'd.
2) Run Class Eliminations at "NHRA Unleashed" events. 'Nuff said. :D I already have a spreadsheet on how you could combine a large number of classes based on similar indexes. Close racing, wheelstands, etc.... "Event in a box." It's not all *that* hard.... it's always been about presentation. Pullin knows presentation. If only NHRA would let them produce their National event shows! |
Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
very well said Michael... I agree...maybe you should send that spreadsheet to pullin to present to nhra..or for there own promotion?

Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
The reason why most of the racers show up is the chance to get their 15 minutes of fame on T.V. the 17K payout is just the icing on the cake.Since all the 16 finalist have the chance to go home with at least enough money to cover the cost of getting there,it helps a little too.I could bomb the heck out of this kind of event. The secret is nitrous.run your qualifying on just motor, then use the nitrous only enough to stay ahead of your competitor in the actual race.if your competitor starts to drive around you too hard, shoot it,get in front of him and lift at the other end.Important trick, disconnect your brake lights.
I screwed up when signing up for the Etown all out race which started at midnight and didnt get my entry in the second time until 12:36AM,and ended up car #889 on the list.Supposedly all 450 spots were filled in 6 minutes.I ws invited to the last chance race and rolled the starting line beam in the 1st round because my trans brake switch isnt rated for the amperage to run my transbrake when the delay box is bypassed so the switch birned up and the car rolled.I am signing up for Maple Grove this year though. |
Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
Does it say something with the wheels up camaro NHRA chose to use to post this on there web site. That picture and the closeness of the racing is what makes this racing interest. The "floating minimum" posted as two cars, in the same class, come out to the water box, is "taking into account previous runs of the two cars and adjust for weather condition at the time of eliminations." You have to run all out each time. If you run motor or nitrous you have to be consistent. On and off the accelerator or on the brakes, 1,000 foot racing, you are disqualified. These folks had over 300 of their own crew people at Z-max. Crew members are along the track with radios. If it is their opinion you are "sandbagging" they disqualify you for not running all out.

Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
The other and probably the biggest question is "how much control is NHRA going to let these guys have to run the event?".....PINKS if they feel they have an issue to deal with they deal with it at the current event while it is in progress or change the rules for the next event....an example was one track that they found out a whole bunch of competitors were sandbagging...they stopped the show and dug up $500.00 for a bonus to the quickest pass during qualifying, there were a whole contingent of racers who magically went a LOT quicker.....
NHRA can take years to deal with some issues, being quick to "stay with the times" would be a HUGE advantage in the market for racers and fans to show up..... D L Rambo.... |
Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
From NHRA'S site...
"interactive events, including Kart Track and Autocross activities; and the traditional car show" OH JOY......... :-( A FREAK SHOW...... |
Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
I entered the Pinks All Out for $60.00 at PBIR in March knowing that it will be either expensive time runs or maybe win $17K. What's the difference with a NHRA points race, expensive time runs, can only win $1k and It's $170.00 to enter. I think that the Pinks is a better bang for the buck. I'll chance $60 to win $17k every weekend if I could. NHRA didn't have any events like it, but now that they are in it, you watch and see that the purses dwindle down to nothing in a year or 2.

Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
Looks like this is an addition to the NHRA/ORSCA deal from a couple months ago. The 4 dates and locations are the same. Maybe NHRA has added the Pullin crew to run it. If you google NHRA ORSCA you can read about that deal. Not likely a Pinks format. More likely the ORSCA format. Or is ORSCA out now?

Re: NHRA and PINKS ALL OUT
Coincidence that the 4 events are being contested at NHRA owned tracks? Me thinks NHRA sees an opportunity for them to make lots of $$$, and keep it all for themselves.

The only thing I find wrong with your thinking is from what I have seen on TV, if you run 0.02 or faster on a pass in competition than you did before they will disqualify you. Just my $0.02 cents. |
