Oh, for the days when real Americans ran these car companies.

Vince Piggins, you are sorely needed.

3. GM an not afford to interfear with production to build race cars.
4. Ford has a advantage right now as Mustan sales are slow and the Plant in Flat Rock ony 20 miles from Dearborn.
5. Ford has been doing it since 95 with the bodies in white.
6. The supercharger and Throtlr body from LS9 is not big engough (not enought air flow) to support the + HP astocker would need to make let alone a Super Stocker.

So what's to keep Chevrolet Motor Divison from doing a 50-build special application car just like Ford has done? You might think that Chevy has never been to the rodeo before, Ralph.....I'd suggest you check some back history.... WJ

Im saying because of the H/P nhra would tag these cars =If GM builds the z28 and that is a big IF,its for sales to compete against shelbys GT 500

I can tell you they tried and it failed to pass the smell test!!!!! Just ask Arron Allison
and they have NEVER done it at start of production of a new vehicle in a new plant in Bankrupcy!!!!!!

Ralph, what fun is it going to be if the CJ's are running against themselves all the time? Ford needs Chrysler and GM if it's going to be fun like in the "old days", no?? Best wishes. :D WJ

I agree with Mike, i don't expect the Camaro to run with the new Cobra.

Re: New Camaro Z28

I went to the LSX Shootout last month at Memphis, and among all the new Camaros (in various states of tune) there were a couple CTS's making runs down the track. The stock one was running 12s and the tweaked one ran 10.80s,, on street tires, and it was trying to kick them loose all the way through the 1/8th mile,,pretty impressive, I thought. I can't wait to see these engines in the new Camaros,, there was one on display from Late Model Speed with the LS9 supercharged Corvette motor in it. There also was a 2010 Camaro from Lingenfelter with a blower mounted on top like the Roush cars, and one with a Procharger kit for DIYers, and other manufacturers as well.
I'd like to see the factory do something with the Camaros on the order of the Cobra Jets,, can't let Ford and Dodge have all the fun,,,,,,,, my 2 cents.

you don't understand what I'm trying to tell you the supercharger and TB are the the problem the super charger will not flow/blow air how ever you want to call it to make 800 hp. I have been envloved in some of tests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blueovalralph , dont fool your self , The LS motors have enough air & fuel to run with the fords. Take away the blower and the ford motors dont get close. I'm a fan of the new mustang because it has the advantage right now . However let me have a blown LS series engine and lets party with the mustang stock or super-stock. Dont forget no factory mustang has even got close to the new LS9 corvette which is one of the fastest car's in the world .

P.S. it does carry the correct HP rating .

Re: New Camaro Z28

BlueOval Ralph: I have also been INVOLVED in many tests with the CTS-V, Camaro, and G8. The factory 87mm throttle body (tested at 1,100 cfm) is big enough to handle over 700 horsepower at the rear wheels. Some simple mathematics will prove that the area of a single 87mm throttle body and 2 63.5mm throttle bodies (CJ) are very similar in overall area and thus very similar in maximum CFM allowable and we have pushed the 87mm way past 700 horsepower at the rear wheels.

Also, the blower on the CTS-V will, in fact, run out of efficiency, but again, Lingenfelter, Hennessey, and others have pushed these blowers to the max and 15+ pounds will make 600-650 horsepower at the tires. Using the accepted conversion for IRS suspension vehicles, and the drag of a 6L80E automatic transmission, 650 horsepower at the tires is 808 horsepower at the flywheel. The CTS-V supercharger is equivalent to that of a 1900 Eaton. 800 horsepower is about the maximum but it is possible.

* at factory boost levels, 800 is not attainable.

I think GM should get away from the superchargers and do a turbo LSX then lets see who gets to the finish line first. The turbo will be more effecient and much easier too hook up.remeber turbo lag was invented to give blowers a chance.
