Re: nhra Layoffs???
Companies usually lay off a few hundred people that make ten bucks an hour and keep a guy that makes a thousand an hour to save money.... I never understood the math.

Re: nhra Layoffs???
The layoff approach does not always work. Usually a company is already on the slippery slope of financial ruin when it gets around to layoffs. The work load of the fired employees is usually placed on the shoulders of the surviving employees which doubles workplace stress and reduces the quality of the goods/services the company offers.

Re: nhra Layoffs???
But, with the demise of the IHRA, the NHRA has NO COMPETITION, now (unless you want to call the ADRL, "competition" for the NHRA, and the ADRL, really don't have a Sportsman program (Stocker and Super Stock/Comp Eliminator cars) like the NHRA's, do they?
If the NHRA can't make it in a market in which there is NO COMPETITION, then they don't deserve to "live," it would seem to me. |
Re: nhra Layoffs???
What exactly is the "demise of IHRA"
|
Re: nhra Layoffs???
IHRA becoming like the monster truck events certainly looks like their demise. How long before they own the "pro" team cars like in the monster trucks.

RE: "The demise of the IHRA"
I didn't word that very well, did I? What I meant to say, was something more like "The demise of the IHRA as a direct competitor with the NHRA program, because with the new Professional format at IHRA, they seem so different to me (from the NHRA) that it's like they're not even trying to attract the same fans" . It's sort of an apples/oranges comparison with the IHRA going for the glitz (jet truck competition, "Professional" racing by invitation, only (will they invite Tony Schumacher and Larry Dixon???), and letting the "show biz" psychology dictate where the priorities regarding racing vs. showmanship lie. I am in NO WAY defending what the NHRA does, nor how they do it... they're disgusting. But to me, this new IHRA direction has thrown out the baby with the wash... Just my 2-cents.... |
Re: nhra Layoffs???
Don't understand why almost everybody thinks IHRA is so bad . They are making changes to try and get more fan base. I have worked every national event this year . I know the pro car count was not as good as it used to be. I can tell you that the most asked question from a spectator/ fan was = When is the jet running /When is the wheelstander running/When is the big truck running and so on....... But i also know the weather has not been all that good also. At least the change they are making does not involve the sportsman racer except to shorten the event one day (which helps the working racing families). I know you cannot please everyone on here . there is always going to be complaints. They have stated it would not change the sportsman side of things. All i am going to do is support it as i have in the past. I have been running IHRA since the late 80's ,then went to work for them in 91 (plus racing in between). I have seen things change a lot , but has not everything changed.Racers don't usually look at the pros run except on sat nite, just to get with friends and down a few.( I have done this myself at events i did not work and had a ball) I would not like anything better than to have the old days back. But i think they are gone, except for a few pictures and vidios(which i enjoy watching).Just come and race if you will "maybe i will still be working after this post" ,if not maybe i will see you on the starting line beside me in the other lane. At any rate i will be working or/and racing with a sport i love so much. SORRY for the long post.Maybe this will make since to some of you.
