Lynn, Of course ,I knew what you meant. But , how a question is phrased in a poll ,sometimes contributes to the outcome that the poll-er wants. We know this from politics, right boys? |
Re: 128 Car Field Qualifying
Lynn, I think the poll should be voted on by only s/ss racers that have competed in the last two years.

Re: 128 Car Field Qualifying
Whats wrong with a single class car winning class and getting in. Its not the car owners fault that no one else wishes to run the class he has choosen. He deserves to be treated the same as the ones with multiple entries. Or is his money not good enough. It is nice to see a lowly class racer out there taking on the big money outfits. And given a chance they can win. Just thinking. Put them in according to the amout of money sunk in a combination to make it go fast. R/SA

Re: 128 Car Field Qualifying
Larry,
I couldn't agree more, it should only be voted on by the people involved, not every tom, dick and harry... Yes, you need to be a current racer S & S/S... Just becareful what you wish for, Mark has a point on the wording... Isn't this a done deal, why are we polling NOW and what happened to the - 2 tenths ??? Can we just have a FINAL set of Rules !!!! I have heard of working process, but this is crazy............ Dave, |
Re: 128 Car Field Qualifying
Mark,
I have heard it referred to as class winner bump in for years. Also, I believe you will find the term has been used for many years on the nhra site. Check the results pages for Indy. Larry, you're right this should be a racers only poll. |

My LeBaron is currently 1.2 under the BF/S index and I can find more. I put in some hard work in case I had to run heads up as this is supposed to be a performance orientated class. But since they may be getting rid of heads up, then what's the point. Might as well go beat up on some Hondas on import night. If it was me, I'd have Stock & Super Stock be heads up ONLY with a handicap start based on the index difference. Guarantee that would bring a bit of variety into the field again! And no, big money will not help as someone who is clever enough to research & build a good combo for cheap will come along and take the Wally, everytime. That should flush out those who simply can't figure out how to run fast, but have plenty of moolah to throw around. I'd also seriously vamp up the Summit Racing Series for all the bracket racers with regional & national events, contingency, their own Wallys, press coverage, etc. That will give those who can't hack it in class racing a high profile series to race & shine in. I voted for class winners to fill the field since many "slow" cars I know of can run 1 under anyways. Also, Wally created NHRA so people can race against each other "heads up" on a safe track, not the street. I'm sure bracket racing isn't what he had on his mind. Hey, if the specs aren't needed, then they won't need tech inspectors. NHRA can save money! Wait, is that the reason.....?!?!?!? P.S. If I offended anyone, I am not sorry nor will not apologize this time. I'm calling it like I see it. |
Re: 128 Car Field Qualifying
Not before long it will be an "All Camaro run" field...

FYI, I understand that the no heads up runs in eliminations got voted down. Looks like heads up runs in Stock and SS eliminators should still be in effect for next season. Travis (Disclaimer: Opinions expressed by me on this forum are exactly that, my opinions.) |
Re: 128 Car Field Qualifying
I for one will either sell my car or put it back on the street if stock eliminator goes the route of no heads up in eliminations. Wally, who I never met, but I did meet Madona (at studio 54 in the 80's, that is another story) is turning over in his grave over that one. BOGUS MAN!
