Just a question Sean? How many hours do you have on your engine combo? How many header have you tried? How many trans have you tried? How many torque converters have you tried? ect.

That's the thing. They haven't been through that R&D yet, and yet are that fast. Imagine where they will be after a realy knowegable racer has worked on one a seaon or two.

So how many cars do think haven't been built with good parts from the start? You assume there is so much untapped performance left because these new combos haven't spent years developing technologies in headers, converters, etc. That development exists, if you are building a new car today you buy the latest (best available) technology as your starting point. Companies like Burns have made it their business to understand header technology and why certain designs are more effective so its not the same backyard experimentation that it was in the 60's to find what works for a new combination.

And if the 2.3L Eaton blower on the CJ stocker engines is less efficient than the 4.0L Whipple on the SS engine then maybe you just skip considering FX classes and push those cars go to the ADRL!

You guys are assuming that there hasn't been any R&D done on these cars but you couldn't be further from the truth. Did you honestly beleive that a magic fairy appeared and instantly made these cars fast? The horsepower factors have contributed to the cars going fast but there is more to it than that. If The people buying these cars and the oems have the money don't you think they have access to the same companies that make the products in your race car? You might be surprised at the list of racers who have contributed to the success of these cars.

The CJ's have undergone lots of R&D, at the shop and track, with a dedicated full time staff of engineers and technicians. Just go to You Tube and check out the many film clips of on-track testing on the CJ's by Ford. They were also delivered as completed cars when compared to the DP's. Still, as I understand, they needed some tweaks after delivery.

Add the fact that if you are building a new car today you can take care of every enhancement on day one. Not every gain over the years was due to hard work and R & D.

the magic fairy is bolted to the intake on the CJ's, in case you didn't notice. At least it requres some skill other than writing a check to go fast with a DP

There is a lot more in the CJ's that makes them fast than the supercharger.

That "Magic Fairy" has been bolted not only in the CJ's, but also in a lot of other of other OEM cars including Japanese, European and US cars, including GM.

For starters, you have a OHC engine with very efficient cylinder heads. Then add what is called in the automotive industry, Displacement on Demand (DoD) Systems.

The DoD technology enables the Engine Control Module (ECM) uses the information related to the operational status of the engine to implement real-time running efficiency of the engine and effects changes in the operation of the engine through the control systems that manage its operation.

I do not know if the these cars are using Variable Cam Timing (VCT) and/or Variable Valve Timing (VVT) like the new Ford 5.0 engine does. I have seen the ECM graphical displays for VCT and VVT and I can tell you you can program the cam events for maximum engine efficiency throughout the whole run.

If the next generation of CJ's have the new 5.0 engine, as proposed, with ECM controlled VCT and VVT, watch out.
