Re: Rules amendments 2013

Re: Rules amendments 2013
My car is still pure stocker so I won;t be changing my seats my seats are high back buckets that are comfortable and I feel safe in them, might not be I am going to attach back to roll bar though,I feel like if it's attached to bar that it's not going anywhere and if it did I would'nt have to worry about anything any longer.
I think I would like a different seat as example I had 67-69 camaro I don't think I would feel that secure in those seats. I like the look of original seats, but does'nt matter to me seats are'nt going to make car any faster. When you have a stick that's all the therapy you need going through gears Mike Taylor 3601 |

I would not put a Poly seat in a race car; it is the same as bolting a plastic lawn chair in to your race car! Although Teuton requested NHRA to allow bar stools, this is all he was allowed... http://www.mileanhour.com/files/2010...rfailagain.jpg ...at least it has a beverage holder!!! :) |

Re: Rules amendments 2013
Happy Black Friday to everyone.... I think the bottom line here is that any one who ever thought about the idea of using an aftermarket seat now has the option to do so. I think it is really a matter of personal preference... comfort, etc . I always liked the feel of the aftermarket seat and when you're more comfortable you're more likely to perform better in the drivers seat. One things for sure... If you aren't comfortable in your seat it's harder to cut a consistent RT and harder to drive the finish line. I have driven a stocker that's same as my SSr.. (98 firebird) and I can honestly say that the stock seats vs aftermarket seats in that car are a source of discomfort (butt too low... bolsters too high... head hitting the roll bar..) and effect my ability to be as consistent as I can be in my car. It's not the seats fault per se they would be great for cruising in a street car. But as for having to have all your body parts in the ideal location to make a perfect pass... Start to finish... They fall short. So do what you like.. What suits you... if you drive killer with factory seats stay with them.... as long as they are properly supported etc safety shouldnt be that much of an issue .
We live in the best country in the world. We are blessed to have these cool hobbies to keep us happy.... It's only Nov and I'm havin drag race withdrawals already. One other thing..... I want to thank the classracer community for supporting the voting for my daughters band... They are still in the mix and the voting goes for a few more days. Anyone who hasn't noticed the "sticky" I put up please check it out if you have a minute. Thanks again happy holidays to everyone. |
Re: Rules amendments 2013
I just weighed a brand new JAZ aluminum racing seat with the padded cover and it is 11.8 pounds. 10 pounds minus the cover.
