Re: Top Draster wheelbase
Wow lvd racer not sure who you are i use my real name on here but i started this thread to ask opinons on a car i already owned for 2 years it is nhra and ihra certified (meaning they have looked at my car and it meets all the safety specs to go 6.0 or slower and thats in the 1/4 mile not 1/8) it happened to turn in to a question board about why isnt lebanon valley using NHRA rules for the top dragster class if you are looking to attract more people wouldnt you use the NHRA approved rules that are the same rules that will be used there in july at the NHRA divisional race ?.....the rule book does have a min wheelbase for the class it does not say anywhere in the rulebook you need 260 to compete and after talking to a number of my friends on here i plan on running my car at the valley and other places at 215 in .....alot of people brought up valid concerns about track prep .....but i say the past is the past and Howard has invested alot of money on the surface to make it right for everyone not just the td cars and the staff is dedicated to getting everyone down it safely .......my only problem with your posting is you compared this message board conversation which really is only a discussioin about .2 of a second to your wed night car and a prostock cmon do you think thats apples to apples ?.....6.60 vs 11.50-17.00?.....i think not

Re: Top Draster wheelbase
oh by the way a 125" wheelbase altered is the number one qualifier currently at the florida divisional with a 6.85 @ 200.08 mph hmmm not a 260 in car

Re: Top Draster wheelbase
LVD racer: What chassis builder did you speak to that told you you could only run a 260 inch car in top dragster. I have been 7.13 at 188 in my 240 car and the car drives like a cadilac with no rear wing. I am putting a wing and spray on the car this year and hope to run almost 10 mph faster than that. In fact IHRA just changed the minimum wheel base for top dragster to allow the 187 inch Land Shark cars to be legal . Somebody posted on DRR recently that they plan to run in the 6s with there land shak.
As to bashing LVD I have not seen that at all. I realize a few people have brought up some concerns. I think that these stem from past experience not an attempt to bash the track and definintly not an attempt to chase people away. I can tell you that Ihave experienced these same frustrations as well. I have been around Lebanon Valley for a long time. I crewed on two jr. dragsters every sunday from around 1996 up until 2007 along with racing my own cars a weekend here or ther. I have seen the highs and lows of lVD and the honest truth is there have been a lot more lows during that time. That being said I do feel a certain loyalty to the track and I believe 100 percent that LVD is committed to this series. I am thrashing to get my car done for the first race. If I didn't believe in this deal I wouldn't be bothering. Howard has given us his word that he wants to make this work. He has taken the first step by repaving the track. I would agree with you in encouraging everyone to do as you have said and at least give the rist race a shot. If that weekend last October was any indication these could be some great races. I know that Wayne and Scott have worked very hard and should be commended on this deal and I would hate to see there hard work go to waste. They are both great racers and do a lot of for the sport and the class well beyond what anyone may see. Sorry for another long post B.J. Masiello |

wednesday night warrior without much concern for the traction issues that many of us sat/sun racers have had there in recent years. new blacktop and good track prep will develop an excellent top dragster series and may help to bolster the other series that run there also. |
Re: Top Draster wheelbase
sorry brian,i thought this was about lebanon valley track conditions or lack of. i street race at the valley,i just seen this forum and clicked on it.i read a few comments about the track and and a few guys that wanted to come to the valley and race the t/d series but a few of the comments about the track had them leary to travel there.i,d like to race in super or t/d but too much money so i run weds. nite.lvd is a great track and EVERYONE should feel lucky to have such a nice facility so close. As far as a 215" running 7.49 or quicker hey if it passes tech for that class (i don,t know the tech side i,m sure its very strict going that fast) then run it.they have set the rule of 7.49 or quicker. so your end seems easy. have the car pass t/d nhra tech, get the car to run 7.40 something and race.i have a nhra rule book its says about adv. et cert? i don,t know very complexed sounding from a street racer side.anyway good luck sounds like alot of work and money.

Re: Top Draster wheelbase
Quiet all of the sudden!
Guess everybody must be hard at work on their cars. The little taste of warm weather this weekend has me ready for spring and some racing. LVD Racer I can appreciate your loyalty to the track. What you have to realize though is that people planning to run this series are going to be running near or even for some in excess of 200 mph. At those speeds track conditions need to be SAFE. Not to take anything away from what you do but the reality is the requirements from track prep are a lot different. I do however, think they are comitted to this deal and are going to do it right! I will go on the record as saying if this series does not pan out it will not be for lack of effort on the part of Scott and Wayne. I dont think thats an issue though because I a have confidence that it will be a success. B.J. Masiello |

Re: Top Draster wheelbase
Brian,
Were you able to find the parts you needed? I sent as much sunshine up interstate 95 as I could find. It looks like some of it is still hanging around. |
Re: Top Draster wheelbase
Well it's a good thing NHRA is trying to flat out ruin our class. First by letting screw blowers and then saying you cannot run below 6.00. What the hell is the point of running a screw blower then ?? Now we have 2 divisions that are not rewarding the fast qualifiers with anything !! Obviously we all know that they pay nothing to go fast but they do give some points. YES there should be some kind of reward for running fast - and we have all heard the argument people give about others qualifying fast - then going to race mode and slowing it down.
As long as it is faster than the slowest car it should be allowed. The people who do not like it should make their cars faster !!! And I dont wanna hear you need to spend 100,000 to make a car go 6.40 - 6.50 - because that is a joke of an argument. It's pretty pathetic that they are going to kill the class - sorry a 48 cars field with 40 dragsters running in the 7's IS NOT A TOP DRAGSTER RACE !!! It's only a matter of time before Div 1 makes this a rule - then I will just swap motors and join everyone else running in the mid 7's and most likely not even run the schedule and just run local brackets and run some outlaw and q8 races. Just my opinion I could be wrong - |
